Are u kidding me !

I live in New York . We are not know for our good weather. I am thinking about getting a ZL1 because of the deals that are out there on the 13 right now. I have talked to many dealers around my state that have 13 and even 14 that have been at there dealerships from July and August on last year. When i ask them where they are keeping the ZL1 they say in the lot or yard with the other Camaro.
When i asked where they have been all winter they do say well we keep them in side for most of it. WTF ! They are 60,000.00 Camaros . That is allot of money no matter who you are. What is wrong with these dealers ? Why would you not keep the ZL1 on the showroom floor with a rope around it . It might just be me but i am not paying 51,000.00 to 60,000.00 for a ZL1 that has been keep out side for any length of time .

I do believe DePaula Chevrolet has a red and black '13 ZL1 that I'm pretty positive have been in the showroom all winter. I do all my business there and many times over the winter saw them there, as late as a week and a half ago, still inside shiny and ready to go home!

My Z is parked outside all day, even in winter (but with a car-cover then).

This will change, though.

it just depends on the dealer.

One thing I have noticed on here is people will say things like "its a 60k car"

I can find 60k msrp cars all over lots sitting out in the weather. just start looking at trucks. you can drop 60k without blinking. my ram was 59k and change MSRP (granted I didn't pay any where near that). I ordered it and all but you can find them with the same options parked outside all day every day.

60k MSRP is not really that expensive in this day in age sadly. every dealership has a 60k car sitting in the weather.

I hear you OP! I went to my dealership in the winter and seen 2 ZL1s sitting in the lot BURIED under a mountain of snow! Obviously all the cars that should be inside can't, but at least cover them somehow!

The guy who bought my '10 SS I traded for the Z just traded it back in. It's now sitting on the dealer showroom floor while their '14 Caddys sit outside.

they're built in Canada and stored on an open lot, even during winter.

All the dealers around me keep them in doors but they usually don't have more then one at a time. I told my dealer who got a '13 after I purchased my '12 from them about the tires and how then can't be in the cold. They just don't have a clue I think.

They don't build the ZL1 or 1LE during the winter months because of the tires.

My local dealer (Calgary, Canada) had at least 6 ZL1 on the lot all winter. Having the snow on them is not an issue, but the summer only tires being exposed to -20C is! Having been frozen like that can lead to cracking between the tread blocks and also makes the rubber as hard as a hockey puck.

Lol I live near an exotic car dealer that leaves Astons, Maseratis, and Bentley's out on a regular basis, rain, snow, etc.

We have terrible winters here in STL too. That's why you'll want to buy cars that don't sit on the lot long

Almost every car on a bmw, Audi, Benz, Lexus lot is over 50k-60k

These are cars, they can be outside. If you don't like it just don't buy it.

I would be concerned if they didn't feel comfortable leaving them outdoors

On the flip side...
I would never buy a car that has been sitting in the showroom.
Watch what happens in a busy showroom one Saturday.
Parents let their kids jump all over the inside and lay all over the outside, belt buckles and zippers all over the paint.
The dealership staff stay quiet, because they don't want to offend the customers, and because the cars will get sold regardless.
Only people like us really care about it.
