Coworker Completely voids warranty on his 2017 2SS due to a catch can!

Couldn't believe what he was telling me. But it's true. He went for an oil change and a intermittent stumble on cold start up, and promptly 1 hour later left with no work done and no warranty. They said his catch can voided the warranty and the dealer won't touch the car now. So he's left with a $48,000 car with no resale value and no warranty and a presumably long legal battle with GM. It's flagged across the country. What a load of crap.

GM has stated as much for several years directly to and within the Camaro5 community numerous times, albeit not necessarily public to the otherwise naive. Shame really, he could have taken his car to a mod friendly dealer and simply had the O2 sensor replaced (or whatever it was). Hopefully he was smart enough to join a local club with performance sponsors that can assist.

So,they only, state it to camaro5 members? This is BS what GM is doing and not sure how you or anyone can defend them

He had no idea about this. He's a regular guy. About 49. It was his first performance car to speak of and he was so excited to do a few little things himself and get into the hobby. Now this. I think it's totally unfair. He's not rich or anything like that and has 5 years of payments down the road on a car with 0 warranty. Makes me sick actually for him. I have an Intake and supercharger tank. So if I get the rattle or WHEN I get the rattle are they going to tell me my Rotofab Intake or tank caused it? Lolol. Total BS.

*WARNING Devil's Advocate* Maybe he should have done some research before hand. I know I did a ton before putting my silly CAI on, and even that caused me to pause and think about it.

They can't void ALL of the warranty based on a catch can. Maybe just something's related to the catch can

Tragic!

Did he sigh a document stating at time of sales "No modifications" have been conducted on the engine/drive train?

Bought a 2016 2500HD 6.6 Turbo Diesel and had to sign a document stating no modifications at time of purchase. Different times are one us...

True. Catch can doesn't affect; electrical, transmission, suspension, paint, glass, interior, etc...

They can and they did. Wow. Times have changed. My plan is to accumulate parts until next march when my warranty is up for my build. Prior to that I will take off my intake and tank and have the supercharger changed under warranty. Then when April 2018 rolls around I'll do what I want.

That makes more sense.. Not sure why he felt he needed a catch can on a non SC engine anyway..

im not doing anything to mine until the warrantee is over.when i asked my dealers service rep about catch cans i was told in no uncertain terms it would void the warrantee.which really makes no sense, but it is what it is...
