Problem with my v6
I have a 1999 v6 camaro, each day when i go to work i get on the highway that has a speed limit of 65mph and when i go anywhere past 65mph my car starts to shake as if it wehere on a rocky dirt road and my rear view mirror shakes as if i were blasting my subs, this started about a month ago and before i spend money to take it to the shop i wanted to know if i can confront this problem my self or if any of you have or have had this problem too so that you can help me out. All 4 tires on it are diffrent brands and diffrent designs i doubt that would be the problem.....or is it? Please help that highway is a 15 minute drive and that shaking is anoying the hell outta me!!!

You may have hit your problem on the head already. Sounds like a wheel balance/tire issue.
You're not noticing anything off with the tachometer when this happens, are you? It's not jumping is it? That might indicate an engine/ignition system/PCM issue. If the all the gauges are in the green and your check engine light is flaring up, take it in and see about getting a wheel balance. have them inspect your tires as well. They may be in dire need of replacement. |

you might wanna get some equal tires, at least the same kind on the front and rear respectively. are they all the same dimensions? 245/55/16 for example?

If your roads are anything like I5 through Washington I can understand the shaking. lol but yeah I'd check with alignment and balancing and definatly get the same type/size

All these guys hit it right on the head...sounds like balance/tire pressure/and allignment all are playing a role in your ride. Also the road plays a big role also the 4 gen isnt very forgiving when it comes to the condition of the road. I lived in GA for five years and we had near perfect roads down there and my ride quality was excellent, it was like being in a caddy. but when Id drive to chicago it was like I didnt even have suspension. I live in Tacoma WA now and its the same deal I-5 is far from the quality of I-95 in SE Georgia. You can fell every crack bump and rock on the road. The highway is worn too so there are very little dips in all the lanes from millions of cars driving. If your not careful the dip will sling you to the next lane! the only way to improve this is to have proper tire pressure, allignment, and balance. Im my ford focus I dont feel any of these things!

you need to do more than check them. do you have the same rims all around the car? tires are cheap these days just get the same ones all around.

not always the tires in something like that... I have a similar problem, have had my wheels/tires balanced, check for warpage, etc (the wheels are stock camaro wheels).
anyway - the problem ended up being my tranny mount ripped. @ 65 mph + the car would shake like i was offroading. was crazy. just something to think about if the wheel/tire balance thing doesnt work out.
