Yes most ppl care about amenities I agree, but if set at a lower amount? You honestly think these cars would sit on a lot stripped as they are? Race enthusiasts and collectors didn't ask for this car. Average ppl did. even at 50k not every avg guy can get one, but at least it'd be a little more approachable. Out of the amount produced, ill estimate 1-5% get raced. The rest stored just to look at and collect dust.

General Motors more or less had the 2013 New York Auto Show with its unveiling of the 2014 Buick LaCrosse and Regal, all-new Cadillac CTS, and refreshed 2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS. But they absolutely put it away when the growl of a 500-horsepower LS7 engine fired up from back stage, and the reborn Camaro Z/28 rolled onto display, surprising just about everyone (except us).
The new Z/28 Camaro is impressive, by anybodies standards. Its powertrain is track proven, fortified by purposeful aerodynamics, gargantuan Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, and a unique suspension system. Speaking of which, the suspension system of the Z/28 Camaro is not magnetic ride control, like in the mighty ZL1. Nor is it what’s found on the Camaro 1LE, or just about any street car from the factory for that matter.
According to those involved in the Z/28′s development, the unique suspension configuration features what’s called a dynamic suspension spool valve (DSSV) dampening system. The setup allows compression and rebound of the shocks to be adjusted without removing them from the car. For the most part, such a system has been reserved for motor sports vehicles. But considering the hard-core nature of the new Z/28, it might as well be.
In fact, the 2014 Camaro Z/28 is the second-ever production car to feature such a setup. The first? The ultra-rare, ultra-exclusive, ultra-expensive Aston Martin One-77 hypercar, which carries an MSRP of $1,700,000. This aggressive suspension system apparently yields impressive results on the track. For instance, Chevrolet claims that the Z/28 is an average of three seconds faster than the more powerful, magnetic-ride-control-equipped Camaro ZL1 around GM’s Milford Road Course.

I agree with you and Im not one of those wall street guys, I am a hard working American. Get paid by the hour. I could buy a new Z-28 because of my credit rating. Been a toolmaker for over 30 years working all over in different factories and small shops getting dirty.
Ive been out in my garage changing oil, rotating tires and doing brake jobs in my slippers. My wife laughs at me when I do this.

the sad part is I agree with this. Yeah this car has the capability to destroy anything on the race track. But its gonna cost so damn much I don't think many will see the track.

It's just a money racket. In 1969, the difference between a V8 and a Z-28 was around $1000. Here we have a base V8 of around $32000 and a Z-28 that will probably be at LEAST double. It doesn't add up. Race car or not, it's a package. $50k should be tops. The ZL-1 back then was the most expensive car and only 69 were made and I understand not just anyone could get these cars. But they're just blowing the Z out of proportion to what you're getting for your money. GM will probably make $25000+ on each one sold.

GM is going to have to price it high to keep too many people from buying it. If they sell like hotcakes at a pancake breakfast their CAFE will be skewed so badly everything else they sell will have to be called a Volt. Also, wait until the dealers gouge, ZL1's were sometimes priced 10K over sticker, watch for 20k over on this car. With 2014 being the last year for 5th Gen cars, the 2014 Z/28 will be a collector car for sure. Don't look too hard for them at tracks, unless someone has a track in their garage under the cover where the car is stored, waiting to cash in at Barrett Jackson in 10-20 years.

It's really too bad that Chevy went to the extreme with this car and it's price. If the price were in the high 40s to low 50s there would be a ton of interest. If the car is in the 60s-70s range I suspect many will find it's way into collections and not many to the streets.

Agree, no sense at all at that price. Buy a used Z06 for $40K and fix head problems for $2K. $55K would be more like it.

Friend of mine is a sales mgr at a Buick/Chevy dealer. Has has the paper that states starting at 60k.
