Nope not required... If you take your time you can get them perfectly straight... Just apply a little bit at a time and try not to let the other end stick to anything else.
The ones I ordered (think they are the same as OP) were only so long so it took two or three to cover all the way around the rim. I got the top half of the rim done, moved the vehicle slightly to make it easier for the other half.

Yeah, just do it by hand, do the top half of the rim, move the car, do the other half.

Going to try this soon instead of having my PC guy do this when he PC my wheels spokes gunmetal and the lip black !

I guess I can't do this with these wheels, huh? Maybe in sections on the inside of the rim? Just cut the vinyl pieces to fit? Is that too much?
