ZL1 Status - last news Mid September
So, we were teased a couple times in Mid September - complete radio silence since then, nearly 3 months.
Is that SOP - or maybe they discovered serious issues out in Germany that required major changes...IDK, just seems a bit boring on the ZL1 side of the house. SS side of the house is kicking A$$ by the way, some of the numbers coming out of that car are fantastic.

For example... The GT350's were really only seen over at "the ring" once in the summer of 2014, then vanished like a fart in the wind until the reveal in November. Granted that is Ford and not GM, but usually they only do big, public testing like that in one session since they really cannot run with the heavy camo bags and such to do hard core testing. You can bet your butt that Milford is getting a workout with the ZXX |

The Z has popped up randomly from time to time so I'm sure they are still developing it. The other car at the Ring, possible 1LE, hasn't been seen since but they can probably test it looking like a standard SS.

I just hope they name it Z28 and a put an NA LT7 in it for $49k to spank the 350. I just got that out of the way before this thread turns into a NA Z28 post like every single thread in this section. Now back to the real question, I have been searching the internet like crazy for new info but have came up empty handed. It looks like the shots we got were from the ring weekend. It has appeared a few times after for street testing then fell off again. I check here multiple times daily for updates on the Z. Im following the guess it will be unvailed on 03/25/16 the opening day of the NY auto show like the numbers on the side of the car said.

I'm still guessing, if there are truly two performance variant Camaro's coming out, one will bow at Detroit the other at New York.

Yeah I have been hunting for more news and haven't seen any either. I would guess the spring also when we will get an announcement on the next Z28 or ZL1.

We will see if all these numbers come to truth in the near future.

Most companies are avoiding the ring now as the track is under a lawsuit. Also all companies are being threatened with lawsuits if they release track times. This is why the new Vettes, Caddy's and Camaro have no official times. GM wants to avoid a lawsuit.
Also the track has undergone changes, so to compare the numbers to other cars from a few years back is pointless. They all have to run again to make it even.

What's weird about the numbers is the power to weight seems to be in customary units where the 0-60 seems to be in metric. That never made sense to me if those are in fact performance goals.

Wow! I don't know how I missed that! You guys are GOLD for catching that....what a riot. Is there a thread from when that was first found? How cool of GM to leave easter eggs like that written into the camo on the car.
SO, they are saying: Video on March 25th of 2016 which is the first day of an auto show. Power is less than 6.46 pounds per horsepower. 0-100km in less than 4 seconds Lateral Grip is over 1g. Hashtag HPSIX I've got to go try to find that thread! I'm 6 months behind! LOL!!!!! See what happens when you have teenagers, start a new business, remodel your home yourself, try to keep your wife happy, work a full time job! You start missing all the good stuff in the car world!!! Damn it!!! |

That would be power is 1HP per 6.46 pounds
So of its 3700lbs. That would be about 570HP. If that goes down to 6.3 it would be 580HP |

The LT4 is rated at 650 hp. That would bring the number to 5.7 lbs/hp.
