Anyone driven in snow on stock SS tires?

I dont want to spend money on snow tires. I have an escalade for big storms.
Otherwise I am going to try the camaro on stock tires for snow under 2"

The summer Pirelli's are a soft rubber compound and NOT good under 40 degrees Farneheight - so you'll loose traction in any wet conditions let alone snow or ice.

Sorry but either park-it or change to Performance Snow or All-Seasons. I went with Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60s on new rims from tirerack - see options at http://www.tirerack.com/snow. Search this forum for other perspectives on this but no one will advise even trying to drive with the stock tires.

Summer only tires are super soft. They'll suck up water and freeze! You'll crash, guaranteed. It'll be like having hockey pucks for tires....bad idea. But do it! I want to hear about how it went for ya!!

Did it last weekend and it is an ABSOLUTE DEATH TRAP! I've driven my entire life in the snow here in the upper Midwest and was actually scared in 1 inch of snow. WAAAAYYYYYYY to much power with NOOOOOOOO traction. I have the LS3 and didn't seem to get any help from traction control. I'd say PARK IT and use the SUV 'til thaw!

Summer tires will not even work this with week with 2 inches of snow.....if you invest good money in real winter tires....(oh btw...chains are illegal here) if you have ground effects you wont make it over a snow ball and without...still going to be VERY IN TROUBLE.......rear wheel drive beauty needs a winter nap....IMHO...

This morning, it was 40 degrees and wet. At a stop sign, with new asphalt, I let the clutch out and the wheels just spun, it was cool. Now I'm not running stock horesepower, but heed these warnings.

Just ordered Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow. (275/245)
I had these on my RWD TBSS and they're great!

Tire Rack called me to say the 275's were on back order with no ETA.
When I mentioned I saw runflats listed in the past, he dug around in the computer some more and found more coded "N0 Porsche XL"
They're not runflats but they are exactly like the scorpions I ordered, just coded as OEM Porsche approved, Cayenne I'm guessing.

Anyway, they're $2 cheaper and they're on the way.

If yall want to go this route, get them fast because there's a few thousand people that are going to need them and not many of them are left. He had no lead time on the filling of back orders. (13 orders at the time of the call)

Now, I just need a summer wheel set, CCW, Nutek, I don't know. I'll have the winter to decide.

$1060 delivered

Personally, this just decided it for me. I'm from Wisconsin and figured I could make it through the next few months on the summers (only gonna be in the north until January before I'm off to San Diego), but no way I'm gonna risk it now. High Performance All-Seasons here I come!

ps I know those aren't a whole lot better and actual snow tires would be best, but I'm moving to a warmer climate soon and don't want to spend that much on winter tires when i can only use them for a couple months.
