21 inch rims - learned a lesson today.

All who have the 21 inch rims. Words of wisdom here from someone who learned the hard way. I was switching my rims out, putting the 21 inch rims back on. I had the 20 inch front rim off and rolled the 21 inch over to the car. I let go of the rim to wipe down the inner fender well when I heard a bang. I turned around and the 21 inch rims had fallen over. Apparently they will not stand up on their own. I don't know why I didn't notice this when I switched them out the last time. Anyway, it fell over and landed on my breaker bar and 1/2 drive ratchet. Totally messed the rim up. It actually took some pretty large chunks of aluminum off. :( I swear to god, I almost shed a tear looking at that rim. Looks like I will be purchasing a new one. Word to the wise, don't leave them standing on their own....

I know you folks want to see pictures, but just think the worst and you'll be right on target...

I took mine into a tire shop to have the balance checked. I watched the guy leave the rear next to the car standing up. It slowly rolled and fell over. It was like slow motion with no way for me to get there in time. Fortunately it fell onto carpet with nothing else in the way. No damage as far as I could tell, but still worth knowing. I'm going to warn everyone else now going forward.

By the way, with only 150 miles on the car, all four tires needed balancing.

Sorry about the rim but I have to ask why would you replace this rim after it fell over onto some tools and knocked off a "pretty large chunks of aluminum"? I don`t know the wheel manufacture but I would have some serious trust issues with those wheels.

The face is pretty heavy on the 21's thats why they tipped over you should always lean your rims over any time you have them off your vehicle. Sorry to hear.
