Grats, now which tune are you going with?

Unless you get it in writing the SM words means nothing, even with that its pretty much BS. Especially if you for one reason or another have to go to another dealer.

Anther price of BS is that GM only asks for flash counters on corvettes. I was told by a GM regional manager that any major work to my SS that would be covered under warranty would require a read of the ECM and sent to GM for approval.

I would take it even farther than that. I'd need a GM higher up to sign off on this and that will NEVER happen. Never. Warranty work doesn't fall into the dealerships hand. Eventually all the info gets processed by GM. There just isn't any way gm is going to stand behind their warranty after the ECM has been tampered with.

The SM is blowing smoke. Yeah, GM only asks for corvette repairs. What about my $70k truck? Costs more than a Vette but they won't check? GM processes every bit of warrantied work.

Thats not true! My dealer just told me yesterday that GM now wants screenshots and reports on any warranty repair that involves motor and powertrain!. They have also said that for the guys that go out and get another computer, that the flash will store it in another module. For example the air bag.... Our cars are completely in communication with the other parts of the car.

I had a code come up and took it in for repair. They searched for the problem for 2 hours. It turned out it was reading an open loop, which was from one of my led DRLs burning out, so i had unplugged them... just goes to show these cars are one big computer by linking a bunch of little ones all over the car.

Its a roll of the dice I know that. Sent a msg to Matt at FSP no reply so Ill guess ill move on. If I get that 2 for one deal Ill split it with another local LFX member here.
Henry G.,

Just be careful with any type of modification(s) to your vehicle since they have the potential to void your manufacturer's warranty.

Kind regards,

Not something to advertise and yes, any tune can effect warranty. If you have a dealer friendly enough to cover mods, they wont for long if you advertise on a public forum. And yes, a "snap shot" of flashes is generally required for any catastrophic failure.

SM told me on phone that my repair a few weeks back would cost $160 total. Got their and paperwork was $212 because they 'mis-calculated' over the phone. There was no way they were letting me pay $160 just because I was told that price verbally.
