Should pull close to the 45 mark, could go over by 1 or 2. I just reviewed their entire list of cars, I fell in love so many times. The wife told me to "GET OVER IT"!

Don't forget 10% on that 45k, plus they charge 7% sales tax and shipping..and there's a reserve. Better deals out there for white low mile example IMO.

Wow, I just saw this car this past weekend. Always like taking pictures of it because of the "museum" lighting setup he has. Bummed it wont be there anymore!

Bad price for both seller and buyer IMO. Mecum charges a 7% sales tax in addition to the commission so that's over 50k on the buy side for a white Z with miles. On the sell side, that's 39k net plus consignment fees etc. Even if a broker bought it and avoided sales tax that's still retail.

The seller was Lingenfelter, so the buyer paid the premium because it was out of his private collection and makes for a cool story?

Most Auctions charge the BUYER 10% and the SELLER 10%. Sometimes they will reduce the seller's fee, but rarely the buyers.

I was contemplating selling a car at the Monterey auctions. Here is the real math.

Both Auction houses told me that the ALL in price a buyer would pay for the car was $220-240. That means the buyer would pay no more than $200k on the low end + his 10% = $220k.

NO reserve at the Monterey sales. RM its less than $250 and you can't have a reserve. Sells for what it sells for.

The NET to be would be $200 - 10% - $1500 (listing fee) - $2000 shipping. Call it $23,500. Hypothetical net would be $173k. And remember that is if it sold within their range. Their range is mostly made up BS.

I had one of the houses tell me that they thought it could sell for only $165-170k based on their internal info. The sellers reps job is to get inventory for the auction. They get paid a commission on what sells at the event (or the listing fee of $1500). They will SELL YOU on listing with them so they can potentially get paid. They will tell you what you want to hear about value to get the car for the action and then grind you when the car is there.

I ended up wholesaling the car to a local dealer. Done, cash in hand.

I always wondered what all the fees are for a 36million dollar Ferrari.
