Dealership scams
Chevrolet dealership decided to not get the correct pay off balance on my previous car loan and now I’m responsible for paying the difference. Lol gotta love these stealerships.

Was the correct amount written on the contract and the amount that they ended up paying was different? If so, you don't have to pay it.
If they told you they will pay it full and you didn't validate if the amount was right and what they paid is what is written on your contract then if it your fault. Sometimes we learn the hard way to double check all the numbers.

If that is the case and you really think they are at fault, call them out by name so no one else deals with them
