How to fix drone

Hey guys I just got the flowmaster 10 series mufflers put on my 2010 v6. And in lower gears its so boomy and has drone. I have a resonated x pipe installed as well. Is there anything that will make it quieter but keep the same kind of sound

Yes there is. Do a google search for the Helmholtz chambers. Its an interesting read.

Essentially and in a nut shell, you will need to find a muffler shop or fab shop willing to build you a pair of Helmholtz chambers and install them. A reputable shop will be able to tell you the length they need to be based on the RPMs at which the drone is the loudest.

You will need to perform some testing to determine the worst RPM range.

So, what are these chambers. They are tubes of pipe (exhaust tubing) in most any shape installed onto your existing exhaust system pretty much anywhere past the x pipe and before the mufflers. Im not positive about before the mufflers only, my memory isnt what it used to be...

Sound waves traveling down the exhaust pipes will partially split off and travel to the end of the Helmholtz chambers of specific length, and bounce back. These bouncing sound waves will meet the new waves and they effectively cancel each other out. Ive attached a chart with the required lengths for a given model of 5th Gen Camaro.

Here Are some threads on it previously posted.

You could also have J pipes welded in.

J-pipes are Helmholtz chambers. The pipes are capped on the ends. Some folks just call them helmholtz chambers and some call then J-pipes. Some of them are even a bit adjustable, though if the testing is done to determine where the drone is the loudest, then no adjustability is needed. I've seethe ads for things like this and it's sales hype to get you to buy a specific brand. A little time, 30 minutes to an hour, and use the graph to determine the length, then have the shop fab and install them and drone worries are gone.

Sound deadener in the trunk and hip area of the car... This thing is all sheet metal. I dropped 3db by using the cheap amazon noico in the spare tire wheel well alone. Go ahead and raise that carpet up and look at all the bare sheet metal, right above your muffler.
If you take out the back seat you will see you can reach in and deaden the rear quarter panel hip area, big difference in drone and road noise. My wife drivers hers with NPP open. CAM, LSA conversion, No cats...
3db is a halving of sound (power)
