Has anyone towed a lowered SS on a U-Haul trailer?
I was wondering if anyone has loaded and towed there SS on a u-haul trailer? Did it fit easily? Any damage to the front bumper cover from the wheel tiedowns?
I need to tow one 800 miles behind a U-Haul truck and I'm questioning how well it clears, its lowered 1.1 inches and has a chassis brace as well, its a '12 convertible. Has anyone one had any issues a using U-Haul trailer? And before someone says drive it, I have several cars to move, this just makes the most sense and keeps some miles off of her, 7k already.

Not personally, but I've seen it done, and I don't recommend it. The angle has to be just right or the undercarrige scrapes on the trailer.

Yeah those trailers are not really accommodating to a lowered car. Plus you have to drive all the way to the front of the trailer to properly secure it. May not seem like an issue but they have really tall wheel stops that your bumper has to clear.

Have to use 2 by 6 or 8's like I did. What size wheels do yo have the tie downs go over your tires like a net so if they are 22's they won't work. I had the GM 21's and it was a tight tight fit. I used 2 2X8's then cut about 18" off each board to make ramps to the car ramps. I had the GM ground effects and had no issues. It is a tight fit but I did it.
Take the 18" pieces and put them in the front to protect the front spoiler.

I'm running 275/40r20's on 20x9 wheels up front, front spoiler will be removed but I was wondering how close the lower bumper cover will be to the tire stop, when the suspension bounces will it contact the bumper?
I'm not so worried about the loading and unloading as the ramps will be straight out, not angled down from an inclined driveway.

Hey Rick, make sure the trailer is at least 84" wide otherwise you have no chance of getting the camaro to fit. I have a trailer and a truck now, but i would need it back of course!

I've seen it done several times on the Uhaul trailers. I was not confident in that solution so I opted for the two wheel cradle. This proved to be very easy and I had no issues towing the car.

if the gas wouldnt cost so much i'd ask you to to it out for me. if i borrow your trailer to use, you would need to wait till i buy a new truck to return it , that would be awhile.

I rent Uhauls. The trailers are not Camaro friendly. If lowered even less friendly. If it is your only option, tilt trailer to the rear as much as possible to load. Use 2x10s to extend ramps, and use 2x10s under front wheels of car to assist in tie down clearance. It is hard to load a lowered car on a dovetail trailer, Uhauls have no dovetail. Hope this helps...

Its perfectly safe to use a UHaul AT Trailer to tow a SS model Gen5. If your car is stock/factory equipment, ride height, ie, its all good. The (W -wide series) Auto transporter is the one recommended by the UHaul prequailfying software used during the equipment reservation process. Anyone telling you otherwise isn't UHaul wise................. Casper loves riding on a UHaul AT all safe and cozy.

Towing on u-haul
i have done it several times but mine is a stock 2LT. Find a low spot in the road like a driveway or water crossing and put some wood under the front tires to clear.
