Question McLeod RST VS. Street Slayer

Which one would you guys say is better for street/strip use with 650+rwhp? How much life should you get out of both for those of you who have experience with them?

I don't know much about clutches. I just bought a McLeod RXT but haven't installed yet. Still trying to figure out what bearing I need.

There are two street slayer clutches for sale on here for $1200 I believe. One is a twin disc and one is a triple disc.

I have the Mcleod RST for about 800 miles now. Its a little noisy at idle and engages near the top of the pedal. I"m only at 465/430 SAE rwhp though so im sure it will hold up fine for me.

A lot of people that they would have done the street slayer first they are expensive I did the 3 disk with speed bleeder and tilton adjustable slave. We will wait and see goes in after new fuel system

FWIW: I have the Triple Carbon Street Slayer. Bought it USED. Thought it looked good before install. Lesson learned as I should have sent it back to Thomas for inspection and perhaps a rebuild (my mistake - I personally would never buy a used clutch again without manufacturer inspection and refurb). That being said, I got a good year's running hard at the strip and it DOES hold the power. No complaints in that department. As for street? When I first installed it, it chattered and engaged mid-pedal. After beating on it, it is fairly smooth but now engages at the top of pedal. It's grabby. It's going to be pulled and sent in for rebuild and I'm expecting to get 3+ years of hard use out of it (like some others who have my same driving habits). Lessons: Yes, buy a SS but not used. Would I go SS again - yes. Have I tried anything else - no. Have heard good things about Monster.

Depends on which one. I believe the rebuild for the triple is 1800.



OP Both of these clutches drive well, but it really depends on your end goal as far as power. I put my Street Slayer Triple in July of 2012 and since I have put 25,000 miles on it. Activation is at the top, Pedal is firm, but not abusively stiff. As long as the fluid is fresh activation is smooth and chatter free. (I advise doing a speed bleeder at the same time) The clutch does make a little noise when depressed, but quieter than most multi disc clutches I have driven. When I put this Triple in I was at 700whp and now I'm over 1000whp and it has been great.

I have a friend with an RXT and he's making 875whp with no issues. Activates a little lower than my clutch but higher than stock. Pedal is a about the same. ( His may be slightly softer) He has 6,000 miles on his and all is well with it.

Both are great clutches.

One more question do I have to use hendrix engineering to get it rebuilt or can I go somewhere else?

The stock slave is fine, the Street Slayer comes with a billet support and new, heavier duty bearing that works with the stock slave. I have the twin carbon. The Street Slayer is made by RPS clutches, a big name in the clutch game, but going through Hendrix is the way to go. He has handled so many sales and rebuilds, he will get it done right every time. The Street Slayer is his brand name for the Camaro clutch.

reading this just made me feel even better about my decision not to go used!
