Wheel Sizes

I just bought some niche wheels from a vendor on this site. I got 20x10 40mm offset for the front running 275/40/20 and then I got 20x10.5 35mm offset for the back running 315/35/20.

The car is on jackstands and only tried to put the front left on but the back of the tire touches the strut. Will this correct itself once the car is lowered back down? Are these the correct offsets? I assume they are since I did buy from a Camaro5 sponsor.

Everything on the car is stock suspension wise I haven't changed anything.

The factory 20x9 wheels (40 mm offset) with 275/40/20 tires will fit up front but a 20x10 wheel will stretch a 275/40 tire slightly compared to a 9" wheel. According to Tire Rack every 0.5" change in wheel width will add ~0.2" to the tire section width, so in this case you're adding ~0.4" compared to a factory wheel, but I'm not sure if this is enough to cause interference. Maybe ask whoever you bought the wheels from if you haven't already.

From all of the reading I've done, typically a 10" wheel up front will have somewhere between a 23 and 35 mm offset (23 being the factory offset for the ZL1 wheels which run 285 wide tires and 35 being an acceptable offset for a square set up which would also accept 285 wide tires). A 35 offset and 10" wheel with 285 wide tires would be ~5 mm away from the strut compared to your wheel - not sure how much clearance there is though...

Thanks guys. I'm hoping it sorts itself out once the car gets lowered back to the ground. Shot a PM to the vendor to see if they know what's going on. I'm going to go back and look tomorrow to make sure the tire shop didn't put the fronts on the 10.5 wheel by accident.

This guy is having the same issue: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...77#post9350577. Maybe a 40mm offset on a 10" wheel is too much; might need a 35mm offset or a 5mm spacer.

I went back over today and think I'm going to be okay. Once I tightened all the lugs down there is a small space between the tire and strut. It's a little closer than I feel comfortable so might get a 5mm spacer or something to give me a little room
