Service Engine Light

Hey guys,

I've been following the Camaro5 forums for a long time now, but only recently created an account (i actually created my account when i was able to get my camaro)

Anyways, i just got the camaro 2ss L99 and have only driven it about 300 miles. I haven't even pushed the car yet as i really want the engine to break in well. This morning i drove it to work and everything was fine. I went out for lunch, started the car up and the Engine light was on.

What gives? What can possibly be wrong/problematic at 300 miles?

Is this something you guys are seeing too? I'm going to take it to the dealership on Saturday, but was just curious. I'm actually kind of bummed out this happened already.

Thanks,

Check this easy one just in case.... Make sure the gas cap is not loose.

Yeah, it's an issue. There's already a thread going on this:

Mine is doing the same thing. I brought it back to the dealer, they checked the codes. It was failing the vacuum test on the fuel system (could be a loose gas cap), I know that I've been careful about tightening the cap. Anyway, they reset the code and everything was fine for a couple of days... then the light came back on. Dealer has the car now trying to figure things out.

I was just actually reading that thread... It looks like nothing major, just have to take it to the dealer for a quick fix (hopefully)

Thanks again

I didn't, but the car is at the dealer now. I had another issue as well... BIG clouds of white smoke coming from the exhaust. There's a thread going on that as well. I've got about 1k miles on mine, so most of the "new car" burning stuff off thing is over. My James Bond smoke screen issue is a bigger problem. Coolant or transmission fluid in the combustion chambers most likely.

Yea it's coolent, had the same thing happen to mine, they were trying to say it was my fault (which is wasn't) I've drove my old vette harder than that for 10 years and never had an issue...

They just don't build things like they used to, hence the government funding!
