Ordering a car i've never seen in person or sat in
I wanted one of these since i first saw the concept. Transformers helped and the pics of the production ones sealed the deal. I wrote a deposit check and my black RS/SS is on order.
but i can't help worry how stupid am i to spend 30+ grand on something that i've never seen in person, sat in and made sure im comfortable in it..... anyone else? |

Hello!
|
Yeah I understand but I think with it sticking so close to the concept and the fact it's finally here...I'm good!

You don't have to pay for it if you don't like it .. order it .. and when it comes in .. test drive .. if you don't like .. don't buy ..

Yeah, except the dealerships in the city were asking for $2500-3000 nonrefundable deposit. It took way too much searching to find 1k refundable.

Does anyone happen to know the exact stipulations of a refundable deposit?

1) Looks 2) Performance 3) Do I have enough money? Nothing else matters. I always buy cars without ever sitting in or test driving one first. Most cars are so bland that they don't merit even considering. Most of the rest fail the first criteria. Some (like the ZR-1 'vette) that pass the first and second criteria fail the third. I am 6'4" tall and weigh 180 pounds. I figure I'll be able to adjust the driver's seat well enough. I've never bought any brand of foreign car or import and I never will. Fortunately, the only imports that pass my first and second criteria don't come close to passing the third. And even if I came into some real money, I would rather have a ZR-1 or Ford GT than any foreign sports car. Disclaimer: my current daily driver is a 140 hp 1987 Fiero GT. But I ordered it new in 1986, in the dark days when Mustangs and Camaros barely had 200 hp. The appeal was the 2-seat, mid-engine design, 5-speed manual with overdrive, sporty looks, and plastic body panels that can never rust. Last edited by littlecammi; 10-28-2008 at 09:23 PM. |

Ya, it's refundable. Get it in writing.

I've always decided what car I wanted long before test driving it.
If it looks good and I can afford it, I buy it. The only time I've done the comparison thing was when we bought our Equinox Sport. We drove a new Malibu, Dodge Nitro and Equinox (not the Sport originally). The Malibu was great, but there were no rebates due to it's newness. Or it would have been the one we went with. After driving the Nitro then Equinox, there was no comparison. The Equinox had a MUCH nicer ride and more interior room. Not to mention the headlights on the Nitro were terrible. VERY dim. |

I understand your concerns, and that is entirely up to you. I have yet to see the car in person... but I'm buying it. I have yet to sit in one... but my wife will tell you, it has to be better than the ruptured spleen she has everytime she rides in the Evo. I always go with my gut. If you want it, get it now. If thats what worries you, maybe it wasn't meant to be. It's O.K. we might still respect you in the morning... /door slams |
