lol

a little bit. THR22 had 105K miles... and I had to refinance it when MrsGTAHVIT was out of work... And I now drive 65 miles a day... running 93 and so on...

Bottom line, this way, I put an extra 400 in my pocket a month. and I'll have it paid of in about 2 years. Then I either go with a used 5th gen.... or maybe a 6th gen

Ah yes, did not realize you had that many miles on it. You floridians can keep on packing the miles on. My car is sitting in my garage with a sad and depressing 5,600 miles on it. I wish I could drive it year round. :(

Yeah... I'm sad to see her go... I certainly got my moneys worth... Only two things actually failed. The fuel pump and the throw out bearing...

Other than that... bullet proof.

oh, y'all missed my last little stunt

so after 200k miles & 16yrs, the stock fuel pump on the truck decided it'd had enough... & left me stranded in the ghetto part of town (1/4mi from the closest AutoZone - the store i was leaving). this was right after the sidewalks started rolling up on a weeknight with supper in the oven & everything. that led to an interesting night involving freezing, guns, lost IDs, and a few run-ins with the cops... but that's another story for another time.
fast forward to last week waiting on the new fuel pump to get installed (just because i ain't got the time, tools, or warmth to do it myself); this is what i got to deal with...

oh, and congrats on the matchbox car!
i'm glad it's working out good for you - even thought we all hate to see THR22 leave

it's kinda like a prius - if you love it, who cares how much fun people make of you!
sorry... just had to make one more

really, i'm glad you're still in something you like that works out way better for your family! that's what's really important

Sorry about the car, man.. Glad to see you are doing well.

Did you budget for tire wear No matter how fast you rotate them, the twisties with a FWD Sonic eat tires. Unless you were doing massive burnouts with the THR, I think you'll find the tires wear faster on the Sonic

Then again, Sonic tires are CHEAP

Yeah... I've found there are quite a few bolt ons out there for the lightweight beast...

And so much less expensive... I could do an entire sonic build for how much I had in blower alone...

Amen on the truck repellent.

even with the track alignment the tire wear was pretty good on my camaro...

but yes, every thing is cheaper on a sonic...

I was looking at short throw shifters... reading DIY threads....

they are located under the battery in the engine bay????

so not a fan of FWD...

Oh and I have a TON to learn about turbos...

One guy said it best.

Quote:
engine turns belt, belt turns supercharger=boost. turbos on the other hand, exhaust goes in, witchcraft happens and suddenly you're going faster

Regardless of what you read, the Sonic does not like additional boost below 2500 RPM. Stay conservative, very conservative.

With a few tweaks and a good set of OE size tires (RE-11) you'll find it to be a riot. With the THR you could run out of talent. With the Sonic, it is all good as long as you remember to turn off the TC, SC and don't run out of throttle to pull you through the turns.

John Buttermore had a strong influence on the Sonic. His former boss (trivia question: Which GM Performance guru's favorite car was a Cobalt SS and is now running a Sonic on track?) responds really well to 6kg front and 10kg rear springs. Ride is not good with the race spring setup, but the handling is sic.

Yeah, reading the fourms, most guys aren't doing much with the turbo, just adding CAI, and airflow (down tube, mid pipe and intercooler) upgrades, with a tune, and getting near 200 whp... Seems to be the sweet spot for these cars...

I may go a little wider on the tires.. Looks like 225 wide on a 18 x 7" wheels seems to clear everything and not rub, when lowered.
