Black Chrome wheel review
Just a small review of my experience with black chrome wheels. My car is my DD so it sees roughly 1000 Miles a month. This was the first time I had a car that I purchased new wheels for (core exchange through Detroit Tire and Wheel). I've had my OEM black chrome wheels for about 6 months. Pros: 1) I like the look. I purchased them so it's a subjective aesthetic choice. Polished up they look really cool. Cons: 1) The finish is like a mirror. Small scratches and rock chips show fairly easily. At a good 10 feet away you can't really notice though. 2) When the wheels were brand new the shop that mounted them with my OEM Pirellis put surface scratches on all the wheels, took a couple of chips out around one lug nut hole and put a circular scratch around the outer edge of every wheel where the mounting machines guide wheel touched. I had new tires mounted at a shop with a touchless mounting machine and again surface scratches on all the wheels. So they scratch very easily. 3) You have to be careful what wheel cleaner and tire shine you use as it could damage the finish. 4) If you're OCD (I take care of my stuff but don't consider myself OCD) it's like having a black car. 5) The don't stay shiny for long with the Brembo pads. They get a fine layer of dust on them pretty fast. The wheels are still shiny but look a little dull. So from my experience if I had the choice again for my DD car I wouldn't get black chrome wheels again. If it was a week end car maybe but probably not even then. This is of course just my opinion but though I would share.

Thanks for your input. I have been looking for a place around Long Island, NY to have this done. Have not seen it on a car in person. Has anyone seen it done on the 10 spoke ZLI wheels?

I love the look of Black Chrome rims. They look really good on your too. Worth the work to keep clean, IMO.
