It appears to be in the strut area,drivers side you know the top plate at the top of the strut tower it seems to bottom out on the strut tower and leaving rubber marks on the tower.
I think it's the strut,spring or the rubber gasket underneath is defective ,but GM won't acknowledge that there is a problem only tell me its normal.

I have a 2011 built toward the end of the model year. Maybe it was corrected. I have looked at the thread and listened to mine and never heard it.

OK ,actually one guy in the thread is using a toilet valve gasket seal between the plate and the tower apparently he claims it made it a bet better.
I can't purchase the gasket here he used to try it out.
