You should ask your dealer about covering this even though you are out of warranty - you never know

When I was picking up my car I saw on the dealer's copy of the invoice it said something like $450 for the repair.

I was planning on taking it in, then the check engine light turned back off 2 days after being on. Curious what this means or if I should take it in just to make sure everything is ok. Thought maybe the 2 straight weeks of rain from Sandy could have caused some electrical problem to show this error then maybe turned off when it was completely dry. Would rather skip the whole 500 dollar repair if no major problem is there ya know.

Did you put a code reader on the car while the light was on to see what the code was?

My Car has the same problem with the EVAP. EMISSION CANISTER light on. The dealer told me that this was a common problem on these Camaro cars. I haven't gotten it fixed yet because not covered under factory warranty after 36000 miles. The car had about 40,000 at the time the light came on. I guess I will have to pay the 500 dollars to get it fixed.

That code can actually be 1 of 2 different evap valves. One could be what the OP had which is an easy fix. I've not looked under the Camaro but I've had this issue on other cars and was able to just reach under the car while it was on ramps and replace it in about 30 minutes. The other valve is in the gas tank and requires the gas tank to be removed to gain access.

The CEL came on in my wife's 2010 Chevrolet Camaro RS yesterday and it's throwing code P0449. The car was bought new in late May 2010 and has 47,000 miles on it. Will the repair be covered under warranty??

P0449 and P0603 code popped up today on my 2010 Camaro. Checked the gas cap and it was loose. I am at 64,000 miles, so I am probably screwed!

If the gas cap was loose I'd make sure its tight and run another tank of fuel before bringing it in.

Mine just threw that code P0449 last Thursday, took it to the dealer and its not covered so I don't know what I'm going to do. Absolutely nuts, this is the first problem I have had, car is a 2010, with under 12,000 miles. No extended warranty on the bumper to bumper so they want $740 to fix it, I've got the quote to prove it!

should be covered under emissions warranty, you should also still have power-train warranty until 2015

From what I read the emissions warranty only covers main components like cats, fuel tank itself, stuff like that. There is a list on page 1.
