Most unbelievable thing ever

2010 Camaro 2LT RS with 19" factory wheels

Changing from factory wheels to snow wheels/tires

22mm socket doesn't fit.

23mm socket gets stuck on and won't come off. Ruined 2 sockets / lug nuts

24mm socket way too big

Also tried every combo of SAE 13/16 7/8 15/16 etc etc

Someone for the love of god please help me! Please tell me all I need is a magic 22.5mm socket, or what in the world could it be ?

I have been changing wheels tires for the past 14 years, from rusted studs, stripped bolts, everything, I have never had trouble like this before ?!

Hmmmmm...I got nothing since you tried SAE. Maybe try a 12 point socket? 22.5mm makes no sense if a 23mm gets stuck.

Obviously a sign from God not to drive it in the salt.

I ran into this problem on an '88 Trans Am. But it was only on a Security lock lug nut.
Their solution was to weld a nut to the locking lug nut and then remove.
If the twelve point mentioned above doesn't work, this might be an alternative.

You have 19" rims? My 20" stock rims take a 22mm. I use a craftsman 22mm 12-point, fits perfect. 19" rims may be a different lug nut, I don't know.

I've always wonder how they put them on without boogering them up. I've wondered in they have a rubber, or some other soft material, in the hex socket bore at the factory??? That's an odd size?

Thanks for the replys guys. ..

so 7/8 worked for 4 out of 5 lug nuts on every single wheel. but each wheel had a one that would not fit.

a 15/16 DID work to take it off, on all the rims except for one.

but then the 15/16 socket is stuck on the nut, and I don't have a vice or anything to get it off. so I bought 4 more 15/16th sockets for $5 a piece. fun huh ?

so I have three rims changed. one rim, with one nut, that will not work with 7/8th, 15/16th, 22mm, or 24mm

and I went to Harbor freight, and Home depot. and neither of them sell a 23mm socket ?

don't believe me ? its crazy, the "socket set" goes from 22 to 24..

here's some pics to show the fun today

Now to be fair, I did buy this car used a year ago. so for all I know, these are not the stock lug nuts, pretty unlikely, but possible.

I bought it 4 years old with only 28,000 miles, so I would think it was stored during winter with the low mileage, and the wheels have never been off before, but who knows.
