Painted Engine Cover with Custom Medallion

Got the newly painted engine cover, oil cap and custom machined medallion installed today. Hope you guys like, next up is a Hennessey CAI with some minor modifications. I debated forever on how I wanted to paint the engine cover, in the end I kept it simple as I don't want it to be too goddy. Pictures do it no justice as it really made the engine compartment look complete.

Looks great, where did you find the Midnight Silver paint? Did you take to a paint shop to do the paint work? Finished product is great.

I got it from paintscratch.com for some reason my lokal guy couldn't mix it

However it is hidden at paintscratch.com, to find it enter

2009
Chevrolet
Camaro

and it is either named midnight silver or bavarian silver, it is the exact same color.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Also if you want to try your local paint shop the paint code is 9752 and is a accent color and not a exterior color there is a big difference.

Teccboxx - sorry - a few questions -- the colors call for base and clear coat - did you order both? What size did you order to do the entire cover? Finally - I saw a blade silver Metallic - it sounds like the "switchblade silver metallic" from the early color charts - it may be closer to the exterior color than the RS RIMS as a choice - your thoughts?

As always - I appreciate the coaching.

This is actual car paint and not the cheap stuff you find at your autoparts store nor is it a touchup paint.

With that said you have to have a clearcoat or the paint will look dull and will get dinged up quickly.

When looking at the color chart I am thinking these are actually the concept colors that was used for interior and exterior. If you want the actual true to form Silver Ice Metallic just switch the year from 2009 to 2010, I am not sure the actual difference between the two silvers as they are different.

I love the bavarian/midnight silver it has a little sparkle and is a nice compliment to SIM. I think this is going to be preference.

As far as how much since you are doing a engine cover I would go with:

1 can promoter
1 can plastic primer
2 cans of base coat (you could get away with one can)
2 cans of clear

Keep in mind this place mixes the paint at time of order and isn't a stock item so it takes about a week to get it.
