Options
Looking to pick up a ZL1 this winter if prices drop and the launch problems are taking care on the M6 but if that falls through I will be getting a 2SS. I live in upstate NY where we see snow from sometimes in October until March/April, so the car will be stored in a garage all those months.
This will NOT be a DD, only a weekend car and the occasional cruise during the week. What are the must have, if any options, for a scenario like this? I have been looking at other threads on the topic but most have been DD in southern climates. MRC and NPP are two that come up in topics but is that something I need. I guess out of the two NPP would be the one. The roads are pretty crappy around here but I would only be driving on the good ones anyway. |

Well, since it's not a DD, you probably don't need the 2ss content.
MRC and NPP are a must on any V-8 camaro, in my humble opinion.. Sounds like an SS 1le is a perfect car for you. |

How is your take offs with the M6? No problems with it bogging down like the ZL1's from lights or stop signs?

Why would it bog down from a stop? Even the SS model is a torque monster. I have no issues at all with my M6, it's all about technique. And this clutching transmission are great. I am one that likes the hill assist, never had it before.

As I mentioned the ZL1 is having a problem with the M6 with take offs and launching. Even just stalling from normal use at lights and stop signs.

Funny thread! I live in upstate NY too, and the 2ss was my winter car. I had a c7 too. (Have zl1 now). I plan to drive the zl1 a little with my old winter tires, but I'm desperately looking for a mini cooper to crappy weather duty. Most of the days up here the roads are very clean/dry. You should really consider driving the car. The traction control system is pretty good with decent winter tires.
My ss had mag, sunroof, npp. Those are all definite options if you ask me, but I suppose if I were to give up one, it would be the mag ride. The stock suspension is actually pretty nice.

I have a 2SS with mag and NPP wouldn't have bought the car without them. If its between a SS or a ZL1 why wouldn't you get a 2SS. you can afford it. Id never give up my mag ride. you can set it for touring or track. its a big difference. Im doing the 1LE suspension on it next week.

I'm one of the few that feel no difference in ride between any of the settings with MRC. I also have the npp and it was too quiet with the valves closed so I pulled the fuse. I had this on a C6 vette also and it was better for that car- I think the new camaros are insulated so well.

Well I said upstate but I meant central NY. Oswego, way to much snow to drive a camaro in the winter. I see what the salt does to cars and would never do that to this car. I have my 2005 F 150 for that. |
