2SS exhaust, 2 part question. HELP!!
Hello and thanks for helping out.
Question 1: Going to order a 2SS Camaro with the 6 speed manual, but had a couple questions my dealer could not answer for me. I currently have a 3rd gen F-body. Although the exhaust from the rear appears to be duel exhaust, its actually a Y-pipe, to single straight pipe, into one muffler with two tailpipes. Will the new Camaro be true duel exhaust or this same single/fake duel deal? As I am not a big Mustang fan, I have always thought they sounded better because they come with true duel exhaust. Not fake duel exhaust. Question 2: The new Camaro will have that deal (cant remember the name) where the engine shuts down cylinders while at cruising speed. As I am not buying mine as a daily driver, could this function be somehow "disconnected"? I want all cylinders all the time. Thanks for any info... |

I believe the SS will y into a single with 2 tailpipes out.
You will get the LS3 with manual, ie. no AFM. Only the auto comes with the AFM that shuts down to 4 cylinders at times. |

I think it has true dual exhaust and the manual tranny doesn't come with Active Fuel Management so you're good.

Both the V6 and V8 have basically the same exhaust setup... true duals on both.

Yeah they come close together and are welded together in what looks like an X section. But they never become 1 pipe and have two cats.

Here is picture of the Camaro's drive train. Notice that the exaust is a true dual exaust and is using the "X" cross member to equalize the exaust pressure. Also notice this lay out is from the 6 cymider version so if it has a true exaust, the 8 cylinder WILL have one too.

Thanks everybody. Very helpful information.
I am so glad that GM has made this car true duel exhaust. Also glad to hear AFM is auto trans only. Im paying for 8 beautiful cylinders, I want them pumping power at all times. Tonight is Sunday night. I will be stopping by local Chevy dealer tomorrow after work to submit my order and give my deposit. As I said before, I feel like a kid in a candy store. Wife will get over it...lol Tomorrow at work, time is going to DRAG!!! How is this for a personalized license plate: "C U LTR" YEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

You're already in IL so no problem with me. If I see somebody on the street around here matching my setup we're going to have to race for pink's because one of us has got to go!
