Upgrading factory radio

I've been toying with the idea of replacing the stock deck with a shiny new kenwood. I see there are a few dash kits out there. Scosche seems to be the popular choice. I have a 2012 2SS 45th. I know I will lose the temperature display. Does it affect the heads up? Thanks in advance.

This guy asked basically the same thing, but I think you will lose the features of when you change the station and it shows on the HUD, and also the phone functions when you receive a call or make one, how it shows on there too. And then we talked about the OEM mic and one of the posts I made has a link to wiring in the aftermarket mic to the original to keep using that.

Temp is still displayed on the Scosche units. On the 1st gem units it was unavailable, but they had issues, although some got them work out, and they came out with the updated versions that include it.

I’m not sure where you were looking, but they should be $299 new. Just google PAC RPK5-GM4101

Phastek Performance $299 free shipping and can print the installation direction right off the page. BAD thing is they are out of stock right now. But you can sign up with your E-mail and they will notify you when ther back in stock.

This video is useless for me. I watched it then found a full video on all the wireing and other parts you have to connect and solider. Switch out other componets. Take more of your center console apart. This is not for me I"ll admit it I'm not a knowledgeable person on wiring. I just saved $300.
