Transmission issue?

Couple days a go I took the camaro out. I was at an intersection and getting ready to turn. The light went to yellow so I got on the pedal so I wasn't sitting in the middle of the intersection. I got up to like 35 mph at about 3700 to 4000 rpms. Once I was at 35mph I let off the accelorator, but my RPM was still running at about 4000 RPMs and was slowly declining. I am wondering why didn't my transmission shift to drop the RPMs rather let the engine slowly slow down. Any ideas whats this could be. I was able to recreate it again today so I don't think it was fluke.

I would clean the throttle plate, and put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in
and see if it comes back.

If you feel that this may be an issue, you have the option of taking it to a dealership for a proper diagnosis. They would be in the best position to assist you with any technical assistance. Please let us know what route you decide to take.

Manual section 9-32
While driving in M(Manual Mode),
if Tap Shift has not been activated,
the transmission determines when
the vehicle is being driven in a
competitive manner. It selects and
holds the transmission in lower
gears and has more noticeable
upshifts for sportier vehicle

performance

Like you said you got on it and the car was anticipating you getting on it more.
