So make your car a Garage Queen.... I'm sure this car isn't made to be a Daily Driver, as you may think.......I am betting most folks that purchase this ZL1 are going to park it for nice sunny days, I can't imagine anyone that would even try to drive this car @ 32 degrees with a chance of Snow...seriously....and if someone says it's going to be used as a DD, I'll call the bluff....Anyway, I bet by March there will be tire sizes that will be All Weather for the ZL1....

If you ever race... you shold know....always a possibility of breakage...doesn't matter how tough the the quality control is on the parts...stuff will break

They designed this car like any other car: they all must pass climate testing (rain, snow, salt, debris, etc). Furthermore - all of the Capture Test Fleet cars will be driven in the cold Michigan winters in the next few months.

The Cobalt I currently drive around in will serve in the winter months. But in the spring, summer, and fall, my Z will be driven daily.

Of course. You're absolutely right. I was simply making a quip about how overbuilt this car is. I predict failures, in stock form, will be very rare.

Yessssss....but the ZL1 underwent all the same foul-weather testing any other GM car goes through. So it's not any more fragile in that respect than, say, a Malibu. That was my point in response to your comment suggesting it is not up to the challenges of a daily driver.

It is not recommended to use the high-performance summer tires when temperatures drop to approximately 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) or below. It is recommended these tires be stored indoors at temperatures above 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) when not in use.

My car will only be driven on Saturday or Sunday, providing the wind is blowing from the south at 2.5 miles per hour with 3 to 5% cloud cover and a max temerature of 75 degrees + or - 5 degrees! Yes its my daily driver!

While "intended" for possible track use, I'm not too sure that the factory warranty would cover such "abuse". Read the owner's manual for exclusions. Tracking the ZL1 VOIDS the warranty among other things. Check it out! It's in print.

Yeah, my ZL1 will be my 3 season DD!

Store them with me in Texas at our climate controlled warehouse. We'll Pedderise them over the winter I'll make sure the tires don't get flat spots

I guess there are pros and cons to living in the desert! I don't have to worry to much bout this as it RARELY snows and rarely gets below 40 even at night..

This tire issue has been discussed about a year ago, where was everybody? I was the first to post this problem with cold temps for these tires and all the same Goodyear info was posted as now and Scott also commented about the summer only tires on the ZL1.
And more important is the ethanol gas in cars. If at all possible fill the tank with gas that does not contain ethanol, really bad stuff for storage in cars.
