Some "prejudiced" thoughts on the SS/RS...
OK -- yes, I'm prejudiced --
And yes, I have 'perma-grin' -- I picked my SS/RS up last Thursay -- and unfortunately had to park at the airport to go away until Saturday..... I've been fortunate to be able to drive several IVERs during development -- and I know how hard the Camaro team has worked to make this the best Camaro ever. -- BUT -- there IS a difference between driving an IVER -- and driving a Production intent 'Captive Test Vehicle' fresh off the line at Oshawa Assembly. I drove to Cleveland today -- the weather was cold, but the sun was shining brightly -- >WOW -- this Camaro is QUIET! At 70 miles per hour, you can carry on a conversation at normal levels. (OK -- so I was talking to myself --what else is new??) The engineering team worked long and hard to ensure that this car is quiet in terms of tire roar and wind......... >I landed at Detroit Metro Airport on Saturday at the end of a snow storm. Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow tires have been installed on all four corners -- When I got onto I-94, all three lanes were snow covered -- and this Camaro tracked true and straight. One test came when I got home and found drifts in the driveway -- not to mention a big wall of snow from snowplows on the street -- I drove right up the driveway -- no problems! But the REAL test came the next morning when I parked along the street on 'The Hill" in GPF --they had not yet plowed the parking lane, so I had no choice but to pull into some deep snow........ When I came out of the drug store -- I started it up (it was fun looking at all the eyes watching this new Camaro...) - I pulled away from the curb with virtually no tire spin! (I would never have believed it.....) >The ride thru the craters better known as the streets of Detroit is quite good.......this is due to due diligence by our chassis engineers....... >Caution: Driving this car can get you into trouble......quickly. People really want to see it -- and they'll do stupid things to catch up to you in traffic -- or pass you........ You have to be aware of it. Lots of 'thumbs up' - Lots of people blowing their horns........ and that makes us all very proud. Someone asked "what is the first song you'll listen to when you pick up your new Camaro? " (I can't remember which site the post was on -- but lots of people had answers....) Well -- you see -- I didn't even turn on the radio during the first couple of drives.......I wanted to 'experience' this new Camaro......... -- but I did get around to setting the station pre-sets. -- and on the way to Cleveland I put the first CD into the slot -- I had about 9 of them with me....... ...........and the first song I listened to was kinda surprising to me -- I mean -- I've always liked "For Once In My Life" by Stevie Wonder........ ............but I started to listen to some of the lyrics......... .........For once unafraid, I can go where life leads me, Somehow I know I'll be strong, and: .........For once I can touch, What my heart used to dream of, and: For once I have something I know wont desert me, I'm not alone anymore, For once I can say, 'This is mine you can't take it' ............and I guess you have to walk in my shoes to perhaps understand those lyrics -- altho. I suspect that many of you DO understand....... Yes -- I'm prejudiced....... ............but this new Camaro just has me on sensory overload - -and I cannot tell you how excited I'm going to be to watch those of you who have ordered one take delivery and experience it fully. And now I'll share something with you that is very personal.. ......VERY personal.... (and I hope I won't regret doing so.....) We'd gotten caught working on various proposals for a new Camaro-- and were told to stop......and it was so discouraging...........I knew how many people were waiting and hoping that there'd be a 5th gen....... I'm not what I'd call a "Bible thumper" -- but I DO believe in God and the almighty........... ............and my Mother has always said '...when things get bad -- turn it over to Him -- and he will answer' -- and so one night during an especially bad spell -- I said a prayer........ ............And a few weeks later, the concept was underway....... ............ah, the mysteries........... ......and here we are 3 years later -- and the cars are coming off the line at Oshawa............. .....................and even though we're going through unprecedented challenges -- I'm one happy guy when I get behind the wheel and turn the key....... Thanks for listening......... ................thanks for understanding................ ...............................and thanks for "Keeping the Faith!" __________________ |

Thanks for sharing yet another great experience in your new ride
It makes me soooooooooooo hopeful that my dealer gets their allocation next month so I can have mine soon. My SS will be my daily driver to it's really great to hear with some snow tires that the car handled great in the weather since I'll be dealing with snow a few months out of the year.

Wow.....thanks for sharing. I had the pleasure meeting Cheryl Pilcher and Mark Dickens two weeks ago and I was so blown away by the sense of love and personal ownership you guys have with the Camaro. Its so infectious, sharing that with us gives us future owners and enthusiasts such a sense of pride. I hope to have the opportunity to share my pleasure with car with you guys just as personally when I take delivery and I'll wait as long as it takes to do it.
