Goodyear F1 Supercar 3 tires

I was set on Nitto NT05'S for my modified 2010 SS but it seems Nitto can not deliver me any tires less than 2 1/2 to 3 years old. So looking at Goodyear F1 Supercar 3 tires, sizes 275/40/20 and 305/35/20. Wheels are 3 piece Forgeline 20x9.5 and 20x11. Car will be 90% street use and 10% road course and or autocross use. Any better tire suggestion?

I hear great things about the pilot sport 4 from Michelin. For 90% street, I hear they are great for that and also at the track. I dont have personal experience but thats what I read. I had the supercar 2 for a few seasons and they were good for street once they warm and good for track. Depends on if you are in wet conditions too because they aren't great but I never had a problem in them. I ran the 3R this year and got about 3.5 road course days out of them. I dont know if you are talking the 3R or just the normal 3. But the 3R was a great track tire, but wears quicker than the 2 I feel. No experience with the normal 3 though

I'm running the Michelins PS 4s on my Z/28. 100% street and they're fantastic. I've read they're OK for auto X but I wouldn't use them on a road course after talking to a few self ordained "experts". I'm hoping to attempt some auto X this fall and see how these tires perform in a legal performance venue.

Thanks for the posts. The day before I was going to purchase the Goodyear Supercar 3's, Nitto came through with fronts at 1 year old and rears at 8 months old so I took them. A hassle but I was set on the NT05'S based on my buddies experience with them. Should be mounting them next week, going to install the GForce axles first, then tires and finally an alignment.

Just a little tidbit on the Nitto’s. My friend autocrosses a C6 Z06. He’s pretty fast. When he’s in a tw200 tire he will out raw time me by at least a second on a 45 second course. He got a used set of rims with New Nitto’s already on them. They are tw100 or something. He can barely drive the car now. It’s all over the place on course and he barely beats my raw time now. With his pax handicap now of being in Street Modified he’s way back.

Since going to the 285/305 Supercar 3’s (non-R) in June, they have been great on the street, one Autocross, a road course in the wet, and road course in the dry. They do, however, hydroplane in heavy downpours at interstate speeds. Just adjust your driving accordingly for the temporary moments you’re caught in that situation. In the summer heat, they would not spin on the street with the near 500rwhp I have. This cool fall air and lower surface temps are too much for them now, though.

Basically, I’ve driven them in every scenario except winter, and I’d recommend them for the all-around utility especially if you don’t want to swap tires for the track.

FWIW, I’ve heard and seen nothing good from anyone who has ran the Nittos in a race setting other than drag racing. They’re the value leader for a reason.

for he road course is it easy, or common, to either run into someone or they run into you while racing?

No. That’s also why track insurance is a must, though, because one never knows what will happen (though you’re much more likely to be involved in an incident by yourself than with multiple vehicles).

I have always stuck with my oem Supercar G2 and loved them but now can not find them
so guessing I will go with Supercar 3.
Are these and most other comparable tires directional (right and left) the way the G2 is?

Just seeing this, you may have figured it out, but the Supercar 3's are not directional, so no left and right. makes thing much easier for rotation and replacements.

I've got one more set of G2's to use after I wear my current nittos off. Then I guess I'll be using the g3's

Late to the party, y'all. Sorta back from the "forum dead" too. Saw this post and figured I'd add.

I had recently watched this video from what I would consider a relevant tire review. I was looking to replace my worn out Continental Extreme Contact DWs with the Supercar 3, and saw this review. Test car in the video was a 6th gen SS/1LE at Nelson Ledges.

Seems like even the non-R Supercar 3 is a very solid contender. There is always some level of error bar on the times depending on car setup, tire wear/degreen, and the driver's preferred slip angle/feel/style, etc. But nevertheless, you can't go wrong... seems since GM is an OEM partner with Goodyear on this tire, it appears pretty optimized for the Camaro's weight and suspension loads. Punching above it's weight for the treadwear.
