My VIN is 13279. Snapped the ouput shaft last July during a launch. I thought a 12 gage shotgun went off in the cabin! No modifications outside of a CAI. GM picked it up and had it back with a new tranny in 36 hours, all under warranty.

I didn't... mine has a dyno tune. They told me that they are required to reset it to factory and asked if I approved for them to do that so they could warranty the work.

I take it as.... without changing the ECM tune... no warranty... if I change it, GM will approve it.

Cool if that is the case then they can't see the the tune had been there.

I'm gonna get the down and dirty when I pick it up... so I will pass along the details of what they have to do. I'm game for whatever it takes to fix it! I can deal with the tune later!

The Dealer must be lying to me. They said GM wanted a snapshot of ECM, apparently the norm on a major drivetrain failure. That took a week to get that done. The word on this site is the ECM has a counter so to speak. So if it a tune they can tell.

Did you bust the case on your tranny?

That sounds kinda weird imo.... I haven't heard of anything like that. They told me they do have to call GM on something like that because sometimes they are required to tear the trans down or just swap it so they're could be different responses for different situations.

I'm not sure about the case... I wasn't able to get under the car Saturday other than seeing fluid running out. All I was told today was the shaft was broke.... and I haven't paid enough attention to the trans to even know where the breaks are occurring.

I've heard a lot of rumors about them being able to see how many times it's been flashed but I've never seen proof.

I just wondering if there are certain parameters within the ECM that GM or the dealer can tell it has been tuned. I mean... think about it like this... say if you bought a used SS that had a tune in it or still does... and then you have a problem... how would GM or the Dealer handle that due to the new owner not having any knowledge of a tune?... so I a say it can be reflashed back to stock and it would be very difficult for the dealer to find.

I forgot to mention, my car is going in tomorrow for a trans swap out because of 2nd & 3rd gear issues so that will take care of having to worry about the output shaft anymore! GM is installing a brand new trans with the good output shaft! I'm really happy about this! I'll still continue with this tally as more report in!
