How much N/A power can you get from the LS3?
I figure this is probably a noob question (soz!) but I looked around and couldn't really find anything. I was wondering how much power can reasonably be gotten from a naturally aspirated LS3? I'm talking pretty aggressive cam (something like stage 2C from Livernois), fast intake manifold, CNC ported heads, headers (w/ high flow cats), cat back exhaust, good CAI and a good tune. How much power could you expect to make with those mods? And also, this is somewhat unrelated, but how much does it cost to stroke the engine to ~416 CID, and has anybody raised the compression to 11:1? Any worthwhile power gains?
Thanks again for putting up with my noobiness! You can just link me to a thread that explains is well if you like! Thank you |

without upping the displacement 520-530 is pretty max'd out. Upward of 600 if you up the displacement.

Sweet thanks, do you know how much it usually runs to have a 416 stroker installed by someone who knows what they're doing?
Nice challenger BTW! (If that's yours) |

I 2nd this. A resleved and stroked LS3 block with big bore aftermarket heads, monster cam and Fast 102/102 could probably get you 600rwhp but on a stock shortblock 520rwhp is about the max. A bolt on ECS or Whipple could give you the same 600rwhp on a otherwise stock longblock.

Damn he was talking RWHP? I think I could *live* with 520 haha
Either of you guys know how much stroking costs? For 416 or 427? I've looked a ton online but can't get a straight answer! And any information on raising the compression? Or is it not a big enough change for it to make a difference? Thanks again |

buying a short black runs 4500-5000 and then you have install costs unless doing it yourself.
But you really need a good set of heads/cam/headers to maximize your new ound displacement. if you are thinking of a NA setup, id go a 429 with a LS7 top end. and yes, there are always benefits of upping the compression on a NA setup. |

I hit 501 with the mods in my sig. Like the OP said..... if I did an UD pulley, ported heads, TB, and a few other mods, I would guess 520-530.....

getting to 480-495 is relatively easy. Getting the last 30-40 becomes expensive.

So Camper, do you think FI would probably be the way to go? I was looking at the turbonetics single turbo kit, makes about 560 RWHP, and is 7k, or should I look elsewhere for a better deal?

I would do the ECS kit, best HP per $ and great support from the fellas at ECS. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=265078
florida speed has a great deal right now. $5500-6000 with fuel upgrades I believe. |

Cool thanks, ya that does seem like a really good deal, is it same to assume that with LT Heads and a cat back 700 hp at the engine wouldn't be a problem?

that kit has seen upwards of 800-1000 with the correct supporting mods.
It has unlimited potential, but i'd start with the base and go from there. There is a ton to learn and i'd start doing research before jumping in to deep. |
