Engine Block Heater
I will be driving my SS through the winter and need to add a block heater. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have ideas... I'm trying to decide between an oil-pan heater, a coolant heater, and maybe some other options I don't know about.
I haven't seen this covered and nothing turned up through the search function but I may have missed something... |

I've only seen engine block heaters on diesel engines.

Well you're in the Southern part of the states, so that would explain that.
Just kidding, but they're really common up here for all different engines. My Impala SS had one when I purchased it. There were several days where it came in really handy. Now I'm in the same boat in a way, luckily GM provides us with the LLT an option from the factory. Good luck finding a block heater OP. I had an oil pan heater put on my '83 Grand Prix a couple of winter ago when it was my DD. It worked out really well.

Just like a stick-on puck heater? This is the easiest and cheapest solution. I kind of like the idea of keeping the coolant a bit warm tho so the heater core warms me up faster in the morning . I may be misunderstanding how those work though... seems kind of contradictory to heat your coolant!

There is an OEM one. Read your manual. It should be outlined in there.
