Hey guys!
This has been a weird day. But at least I was off from work. Anyway, drove the Camaro last night to the local fireworks display, and got to try the FE4 sways out. I'll get to that later. Anyway, the top was down and my son and I were hearing a strange noise coming from the rear of the car. Sounded like an intermittent squeak, like a cricket. I HATE finding squeaks and rattles like this! Anyway, my son said it was coming from the right rear wheel area. We enjoyed the fireworks, then drove back home squeaking pretty much the whole time. Got home and figured I would retorque the right rear sway bar link. So I crawled under the car and torqued it. While I was doing that, I didn't notice how close I was to the muffler, but soon found out when my chin got too close. Luckily, there is no burn mark on my face, at least not yet. So we ventured back out and the squeak was unchanged. We just drove back home and called it a night. I wanted to start the Chevelle up the following morning and dial the carburetor in, but now I have to work on the Camaro again. Returned to the garage this morning while it was still under 100* and crawled under the Camaro. Back in my wrench-turning days, I would take a rubber mallet and bang (not hard) on undercarriage components listening for rattles. It was always pretty effective! Since I don't have one anymore, I put on some work gloves and used my fists. Didn't take too long to find the cause of the squeak. Two of the 4 bolts on the right side rear brace (the one that mounts to that bracket behind the diffuser and ends next to the rocker in front of the right rear wheel, not sure what it is called) were loose, and the last bolt had backed out over an inch! I torqued the loose bolts and checked the bolts on the left side brace, drove the car, and the noise is GONE! Feeling lucky, I uncovered the Chevelle to start it and dial in the carb. Found a small fuel leak which was easily corrected. Started the engine and adjusted the carb. The engine idles SO much better now, and is much more responsive too. I backed the car out of the garage so I could clean up real quick and take if for a drive. While I was in the garage, I noticed a rather large, steaming puddle under the Chevelle. That could only be antifreeze. One of the heater hoses appeared to be leaking, so I tightened the clamp. The more I tightened, the faster the antifreeze leaked. Appears my 44 year old heater core finally failed. NICE! Ordered a new heater core and mounting clips/springs today. Installing heater cores sucks! Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Sorry some of you have to work. Hope the rain stops soon.

Dang Rick, sorry to hear about the Chevelle. Hope it is back up & running soon. Glad you tracked down the noise in the Camaro though. Makes me want to crawl under mine & see if I can figure out where those bolts were to make sure mine are secure.
Good morning crew. Still kind of rainy here but looks like the worst of it is east of us for now. The rivers are about maxed out now so I hope it lets off soon. Last year this time we were in a record setting stretch of triple digit temps. This hear, record settng low temps and heavy rain. What a difference a year makes. We just might drive both trucks to a shop & get the wheels/tires swapped out & Daddy's girl needs an alignment. We need to call & check the hours they are open & how busy they are.

That's what happens with older cars Rick. Ya get one thing fixed and another issue pops up. It's a never ending battle. My '57 Chev is the same way only probably worse. Temporarily, I've given up on it. It just sits at the side of the house and grows old gracefully.
This is the second Camaro that I've heard of with loose or missing bolts. If you remember a few weeks ago I reported that I had three of four engine mount bolts on the left side missing. Running with one bolt for who knows how long! I don't know if they weren't tightened properly or were never even installed on the assembly line. Jan, we'll gladly trade you some rain for some triple digit temps. My poor lawn looks like it's burnt to a crisp.

Went to the Wings and Wheels show today. Too distracted by all the wings to bother with pics of wheels...
The jet car raced some planes, like last year, and played a little chicken too

Hi crew. I spent some time going through my clothes getting ready to pack for Vegas. There were a lot of clothes I would have taken that were just plain too big so I did a little shopping trip. I got me a couple of shirts, a tiny pair of shorts (I was so excited about them) a couple pair of nice undies [] and a sun hat. I also bought a sun dress for my daughter who is going with us & does not have much in the way of "vacation wear". Here is a pic of me in the new shorts & the shirt I made . (and before you ask, No guys, I am not going to post pics of me in the undies).

Good morning crew. Plans are starting to come together. One more week of work then off to Vegas. Then back to work another week & it will be Fest time! I'm getting really excited. I get my Pedder's suspension installed at Raymond's the day before the Fest & I get Halos installed at the Fest. Then time for lots of fun! Going to visit my dad today & just daily tasks. Have a great Sunday everyone.
