Which one and why
So hello everyone, I"m new to the Camaro 6 community but not the Camaro brand. I recently sold my 2010 2SS Camaro, and now I'm in the market for a new car. The issue is I really like the new ZL1 as its an amazing car, but i also like the C7 ZO6 Corvette. So im torn as to which vehicle to get. I have been researching for the last couple of months and i will be wanting to pull the trigger this time next year. I'm sure I'm not the only person who had this problem, so any information oro reasoning you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!! Below is my former car

I currently own both cars, 2015 3LZ Z06 and the 2017 A10 ZL1.
It an easy choice... If I could only have one, it would be the Camaro. Actually, because of the ZL1 I will be selling my Z06. The Camaro is a better engineered vehicle, everything just works better as a package. |

I just went through the exact same dilemma, I am now driving a 2017 ZL1 a10....
The more I read the more it pointed to the ZL1 being a more "fun" car. I bought this for me and my enjoyment, not because of what anyone else would think. On top of that, I can put my 10yr old and 6yr old in the back seats (they LOVE it), the trunk itself is a good size if the opening isn't, and the a10 is beyond phenomenal. Most amazing transmission of ANY car I have ever driven to include 2016 GT3 with the PDK and several other dual clutch transmissions. Simply amazing. And the car is just soooo much fun to drive. My wife and I giggle like kids at least 3-4 times every time we take it out!!! |

Do you need a back seat?

I'm switching from my vette. I don't have a z06, but the a10 zl1 looks too good to pass up.

Crazy time we're. The top dog Corvette and top dog Camaro are realistically being cross shopped now. I had a Stingray in 2014 and later sold it, with intention to eventually get a C7Z06. I now have a ZL1. I'm not sure what changed internally at GM, but the Camaro team did a heck of a job with this car. I know the Z06 is still the top performer (cooling issues aside), but the ZL1 is now good enough and different enough in its own right to actually be a viable option to the Z06.

Actually it has always been a close decision until the fat Gen 5 was introduced. Now the C7 is a bit heavier and the Gen 6 is a bit lighter so they are again similar in performance with the nod to the Corvette. I always raced Gen 3 and Gen 4 Camaros because of the better value and performance/$. My street cars were the Y Bodies. These days it is back to within a couple of seconds on most tracks with the Camaro being about 70% of the cost of the Y body.

All I had to do was sit in them & I knew which one I wanted...the vette seating wasn't for me & didn't feel the vibe.
I actually think the ZL1 is a more menacing looking machine too...the back seat meant nothing, but did like the savings on car ins. |

I was looking at the same decision, Z06 or ZL1. The Z06 I could only get the 1LZ as price was a restriction for me. Even with a 1LZ and some discounts, it was still $7k more than what I paid for the ZL1, and then I would have had to forego things like ventilated seats, auto dim mirrors, and some other items. ZL1 was more comfortable, cheaper and comes pretty well loaded.
