I've read that the Outlaw series from Flowmaster is basically "a muffler delete".

And that was actually from someone at Flowmaster themselves that said it, wont say who for obvious reasons.

He told me to go with American Thunder, said "at least there's some tone to it rather than just a modified muffler delete."

How much truth is there in this?

The outlaws have louvers in side the muffler part of the pipe ,definitely very different from muffler delete, dB might be close to same but tone is different

David is right. My outlaw definitely has a different, more "tuned" type of sound compared to a muffler delete. Like he said, it might be just as loud but it sounds different. I like he sound of the outlaw a lot better

I have the full stainless works exhaust. (Longtubes, HF cats and retro chambered catback with Vmax throttle body and C.A.I intake on my 2012 SS Ls3.

Very loud but "deep" sounding, couldn't be happier 👍

I went with the Hooker Blackheart Axle-Back and a K&N Typhoon Intake. Gives me a little deeper sound at idle and sounds great when accelerating without pissing off the neighbors. (I leave for work at 4:30 a.m.)

First thing I did to my car was switch out the exhaust and purchased the Borla S-type exhaust. After installing headers I noticed that at certain speeds the drone gets pretty bad, to the point that my sister will not ride in the car with me ( non issue with me). Now that I have the car cammed with ported heads, LTH and 3" exhaust with X pipe, the drone has gotten worse. It's to the point that I'm actually considering a completely new exhaust system. Don't get me wrong the car sounds wicked but the drone is killing me bewtween 68-75 mph.

Here is a clip of my exhaust....

Kooks LT and HF Cats w/NPP ended up sounding way better than I had expected.
You get the best of both worlds...

You're gonna have to either get high flows or swap out the c/b to the one with j-pipes.

In terms of overall volume, Flowmaster's Outlaw Series mufflers can be compared to straight pipe sound. However, as mentioned above, the tone of our Outlaw Series mufflers definitely sets them apart. Outlaws will knock off some of that high-pitched harshness and rasp that is common with straight-piped systems and add depth to your exhaust note.

a deep rumbling burble at idle and a raucous wail of GTFOMW screaming banshees-just stomp on the fuse pull factory NPP in 4th gear at highway speed. 3000 to 5800 rpm. highly recommended. use with care. repeat as necessary.
