In this context, they're small little tacks that look like jacks that kids used to play in the 50's.
They're meant for popping tires. EDIT: I'm sure they were used in a few movies. Basically the car releases a full box of these puppies and the cars cheasing them have no tires left to continue chasing them. |

No worries. I was just planning on putting a board over the depressed area in the trunk. Then I could put my tool box over it, and have the speakers cover it up so it would look nice and clean. And, of course, I was going to put an amp in the bottom of the storage compartment next to the driver side rear fender (it was opposite the spare tire). But I was going to do mine in gray carpet like the rest of the interior, not paint.
