Hi all!

I'm going to take a swing at this, and I wondered if anyone has any pictures of how they modified the boot frame to minimize the front gap? I believe using a dremel and some washers were recommended, but any pictures would be greatly appreciated!

All the best!

I didn't even dremel, I just used a bunch of washers to get the height, and it sits just fine.

It’s been awhile I can’t remember if I slotted the holes because it wasn’t aligned right or not but here’s pictures of what I did.

Good DIY! Anyone know if there is a way to use the existing automatic boot with some universal shift boot leather?

Well, I ordered a universal shift boot leather to try it out and I don't think it's quite as good as buying the GM Manual Transmission boot, but I don't think it's bad. Just had to pop off the bezel with the gauges, zip tie the leather to the shift handle same as yours, and then just tuck the leather into the open area on the side so that the bezel pops back in fully. Lays completely over the existing plastic setup that was there before.

I saw this thread and had to get rid of the ugly plastic gear selector indicator. I found the manual shift boot with red stitching on ebay and picked up the Hurst shifter from Summit Racing.

Revised Shift Boot

The shift boot assembly is no longer available and the shift knob and shift boot are sold separately now. The issue is that the shift boot has a chrome ring around it.
Has someone done this modification with the new parts? Can the chrome ring be removed? Does the shift knob need to be purchased too? Will the shift knob mount to the automatic shifter?

Your assistance is appreciated.
