The "SSX" that everyone talks about has Pfadt coilovers and suspension components.

There is no way that will work with the magnetic suspension.

Besides, that's a fully preped track car. No way GM will make that type of car availble to the public.

If its not a Z28 then I dont want it. I will keep my SS. The only other Camaro I will buy will be a Z28 if they ever build one. I want the heritage , I want the the nameplate that comes with a Z anything else will just be a supercharged Camaro in my mind. JMO

I really like the comments I'm reading in here!!

Keep 'em coming guys!!!

And remember to vote!!

Yes -- if you would rather buy a car named "Z28"
No -- if you would only buy it if it were named something else.

If the engineers are saying, "We can do better by the Z/28 heritage." Fine, call it HP and get started on the Z/28.

They can use that new 5.5 liter, along with a close ratio trans, 4.1 diff gears, light interior, hard suspension bushings etc.

Can't call it ZL1, they're letting SLP use that.

I know everyone on this site are looking forward to a new Z/28 being released in the future as I am but I really do not think it will matter much if this higher hp edition is named it or not. Really I think they need to name it something new and fresh to add to Camaro as a new model that can create a legacy of its own as the Z/28 & ZL-1 have in the past. The Z/28 should be saved I think for the 6th gen introduction in 2014 or 2015 then we will have 4 different models to choose from V6/RS, SS, Z/28, High HP model, along with the convertible. Either way the Camaro brand is soooooo strong now that the Z/28 will return in the future soon I guarantee it and it will be even more special when it does!

Really? If they used the IROC-Z name plate, that doesn't mean that hey have to have the race series start all over again. Who's going to care if the series doesn't exist if the name plate is used. When I owned mine it was after the series was over but my car still said IROC-Z on the side of the car

I think this is much ado about nothing. "HP Edition" maybe the internal designation for the program but does anyone honestly think that sounds like something a marketing team at GM would land on. Vehicle development programs rarely operate under the same name the product is eventually be sold under, especially when it comes to performance vehicles.

There is..

Theres the CMC which is the Camaro(&firebird) Mustang Challenge. And there is the American Iron Racing League which is basically open to all American muscle.

They're both held by NASA, National Auto Sport Association

The heritage associated with this nameplate is second to none. If this car is going to be the pinnacle of Camaro performance in the 5th generation platform, then it deserves a name none other than Z/28.
Exactly!!
Please dont give GM any ideas! The Z/28 must return to its rightful place PERIOD!!

heritage of the Z28??? this car is not what the z28 is. this is something other than what a z28 is known for. therfore it should be called something lese. but you guys here are so wrapped up in the z28 nameplate....and it hasnt even been confirmed as the "z28" yet!
