Camaro5 Premier! AMMO NYC!

After emailing back and forth with Larry Kosilla (one of the top detailers in the world), I decided to give his proprietary AMMO Paint Regimen a shot. It just came in today, so I can only post a few initial impressions about the AMMO philosophy in general.

First of all, the company. I think that AMMO NYC consists almost entirely of just Larry. Every time I sent any emails to the company, he personally responds. Nice as could be. This does lead to a little lag time in communication, however. I don't think it's anything intentional or bad business, I just think Larry is awfully busy detailing $150,000 cars most of the time. I just don't know how this would bode if you had an urgent question.

Second, the AMMO system is a little different than anything I've ever heard of before. Larry doesn't recommend actually washing the car unless it's "Excessively dirty." He recommends a rinse followed by a wipe down with the Hydrate Paint Moisturizer. That's kind of new and it means two things: He has a ton of confidence in his Skin Sealant, and the Hydrate must be a pretty effective rinseless wash.

So the kit basically comes with four products:

Foam Paint Cleanser- Washing soap- Review Post #40
Skin Defense Coat- Sealant- Review Post #74
Hydrate Paint Moisturizer- Apparently some sort of rejuvenation for the Skin coat and also a rinseless wash type product??- Review Post #79
Spit Emergency Shine- Spray wax/quick detailer type product- Review Post #61

The whole deal with AMMO, which is printed on every bottle, is that you want to continually build up layers. So you add more layers of Skin, fortify them with Hydrate after every wash, and then use your Spray Wax for touchups and between washes.

The price wasn't bad. The kit is $125+$10 shipping, which is a little high, but can't comment on the value until I use it and see how much it takes and how long it lasts. It did come with 3 16x24'' microfiber towels (nothing too great) and a foam applicator pad. I wasn't expecting that stuff, so it was a nice little extra.

Please be sure to check back periodically as I can't wait to try all this stuff out and I'll leave detailed reviews of each product in this thread as I use them.

*ignore the Wolf's and the brush. That was a different order that came in today as well

I am quite interested in the layering concept. Hopefully the products are as good as the videos

I know, right? His videos are the best I've seen. And he said he created Ammo because he couldn't find products good enough, so it's got to be great stuff. It's like if Michaelangelo decided to sit down and start making his own paint brushes because he couldn't find any good enough for his work.

I'm following this as well. The layering/stacking properties of Zaino is one of the qualities that sold me on that product line years ago. If this stacks and protects better, I'm up for a change.
