LT9 cam and low oil pressure

Hi,

This week we did some changes to my 2012 SS.
There already was a Eforce supercharger installed.
We now went for a cam conversion.
Lingenfelter LT9 cam.
Thermostat.
High volume oil pump.
Valve spring kit.
Lifters and lifter guides.
Timing cover kit.
Balancer bolt.
Stainless steel Kooks headers with CAT.
Camshaft conversion kit.
.....
As you can see we converted the L99 to LS3.
Everything went well and the startup was okay.
You can see a video of the warming up here
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater

But almost no oil pressure...
When pushing the gas pedal, the gauge rises slowly to almost half way.
We checked the pickup connection to the pump, and other things but can not find the reason for this abnormal behaviour.
Can someone help us with some ideas?
Can it be the brand new oil pump?

Thanks,

Johan from Belgium.

Update.....

My mechanic contacted Lingenfelter and they say that the Melling oil pump is full of grease on the inside and that you have to open and clean it prior to installation.
If that is true, I am very confused and a little pissed. If that really is the case, why don't they put a note in the box?
We will re-open the entire front of the engine and do what they told us to do.
This means a day and a half of work for nothing!

I will keep the guys that are interested posted.

If you didn't open the pump up to install it what was the process used for centering the pump gears?

Melling does not include any instructions other then for the extra springs included.

This is an Engine part and is expected to be installed by a qualified engine builder.

The pump should have been disassembled for Proper installation and alignment, this is Critical!!!

There is another Possibility that the Orings under the Valley Plate either have been left out or are leaking causing Low Oil pressure.

Note We recently had a Melling Oil pump with Low Pressure as well, We replaced it with another and all it Well.

I hope this information is Helpful in finding a solution.

Ted.

The reason for the bad oil pressure has been found....there is a leakage nearby the oil pressure sensor
I have not seen it yet but the mechanic told me over the phone. I'm going to have a look tomorrow and will try to take a picture.
When idling the oil pressure is 50 Psi so that is good.

Before getting on that gas those springs needed a few heat cycles.

Here's the news.....
The original AFM lifters have a smaller oil canal that leads to an oil waste that is now covered up by a the original sealing. This sealing sits under the new AFM and CAM cover delivered by Edelbrock.
Those seals are not heavy enough for the bigger oil canals in de normal lifters. So the pressure through the waste is larger with the normal non AFM lifters.
In this picture you can see the eight waste 'tubes' on top.

With those holes covered, the oil pressure hits a normal 50PSi at idle.
Everybody happy
