Adding a Few Goodies to my Z/28

Well I have been accumulating a few things over the past few months and dropped the car off yesterday at my buddy's shop for install. Here is what is planned.

1. OEM Wickerbill
2. Brey Krause Harness Bar
3. Schroth 4 point Harness (drivers side only)
4. Zl1addons - tow hook mount front & rear
5. ZL1addons - Large front Rock Gaurds
6. Track Alignment and Corner Balance (using factory track spec)
7. Full fluid change (oil, trans, rear axel) - OEM recommended fluids
8. Castrol SRF brake fluid replacing stock fluid
9. Going to attempt to drop the stock seat height, or at least drop the front an inch or so.

Already had clear film installed on front splitter, bumper, fenders, hood, mirrors behind front wheels to back wheels up to the seam 2/3rds of the way up the door and behind the rear wheels up to the bumper seam.

Should be ready for track after this, now if I can just get some time to get there!

Looks good! I think you have a fantastic basis for an awesome track day experience! Make sure you have burnished the brakes before track time. You can do an on track burnishing if you don't have an appropriate location for the procedure.

Also #6...not sure you can corner balance on the stock setup unless you add lead weights to the car.

Also in for lowering the stock seat height.

Perhaps my ignorance but I thought that was only "really" possible with coilovers.

We will pull the seat and see if there is any way to modify brackets or connections points to the seat to drop it. Not sure what we can do until we get it apart.

Will report back what we find.

You both may be right and I the ignorant one- I am a Porsche guy so standard procedure for set up, so may not be possible without weighting - which we won't add.

Here is some information: Nice thing is they are street legal. If you go this route with Brey Krause harness bar be sure you order "lap belts" with quick release clips on the ends for connection - they don't come that way, but can be ordered that way at no extra cost. Also here is a link from where I ordered - Subi sports does not discount, but are great to deal with and very knowledgeable!

Link: https://www.subesports.com/schroth/p...-asm/sch-20070

Schroth
PROFI II - FE ASM
SCH-20070

The Profi II-FE ASM is designed to be used as a four point system for street legal usage incorporating the required red push-button release design. For this reason it is perfect for use in Driver Education cars or any other application where stock seats are retained. A seat that was not originally desiged for use with a racing restraint should never be modified to accept an sub strap. The Profi II ASM incorporates Schroth's legendary ASM (Anti-SubMarining) technology that is the only thing like it on the market. ASM is an extra fold of material sewn into the inboard shoulder belt that elongates at a different rate than the outboard belt. This allows your upper torso to twist slightly. On the rebound phase, your torso is planted firmly back in the seat rather than allowed to slide under the lap belt. Features 3" polyester webbing at the shoulders and 2" polyester webbing at the lap belts, lightweight adjusters, and a push-button operated RFR rotary buckle. The 2" lap belt's notable feature is that it rides within the crest of the human pelvis where a 3" belt would rest on the edges. This allows you to get the belt up to an inch and a half tighter. That means the lap belt will be working earlier in the accident event because it gets loaded faster. It's also more comfortable and easier to adjust becuase there's less friction through the adjuster. The lap belt cofiguration is a pull-down adjustment with a sewn in bolt/in end. Dual or sigle substraps can be added to make it into a six or five point configuration. Shoulders come in 70" length. SFI 16.1, DOT, and FIA approved. Available in red, blue, black, and silver.

Ordered a ZL1 Black Bow Tie to add to the updates to go on the back. Should be an improvement to the stock gold one!

Did you order that through your dealer? That looks great!

the moment you hit the track you will determine that the car is much better than your skill level unless you are a seasoned professional driver. Learn to use the momentum in the corners as our Z/28s can carry very high corner speeds. Braking is amazing and the moment you initially brake is most likely too soon and you can gradually shorten the braking zones. This is a big car that doesn't understeer so your line will be much different than other momentum cars. Sweep wide and get to the throttle quicker (not abruptly) than it seems possible. The Torsen diff allows powering out of the corners so no worries. I would recommend PTM 3 until you have many laps under your belt. It will allow lots of sloppy inputs and keep your car in check and out of danger while keeping your speeds high. Have fun and learn the car as it is quite a treat to drive a speeds that seem impossible.

Well unfortunately we had no luck lowering the seat - we took it out, looked everything over and it appeared the only way possible was to modify the hinge mechanism that allows you to raise and lower the seat. But there was limited added clearance and no clear path that would result in meaningful outcome.

So I decided to live with it as is and live with it until I decide if I will install a track seat.
