Camaro Fever resulting in Carvana

Placed an order with Carvana yesterday for a 2011 Convertible Camaro 2SS with 32k miles. I have been saving my down payment and looking at Camaros for the past 2 months.

In the beginning there was no way I would order a used car online without a test drive or at the very least laying my eyes and hands on it.

It slowly grew on me that they have a 7 day money back guarantee and a 100 day 4.1k mile warranty.

The biggest motivation was after going to a few dealerships for cars I saw listed online, the OTD price would skyrocket with dealer fees.

My order is in Information Verification right now with a delivery scheduled for Tuesday. I want to give honest updates and reviews for anyone considering using Carvana. As of right now I am still skeptical.

Curious as to how many of you have bought your car sight unseen.

With only 32k its not going to have many or any issues unless its a theft recovery a collision write off or a flood car which would all show up on a Car Fax.

Romp around for 6 days and bring it back if you don't like it.

The information verification stage required half a dozen calls from me to Carvana to find a knowledgeable rep with underwriting authorization.

This was an extra step since I am a subcontractor that required personal attention from a carvana staff member.

Everything is approved and the car is still scheduled to be here tuesday morning (tomorrow)

I went the same route exactly one year and 2 day ago. After months of searching for the exact car I decided I wanted, I had to go to online sales. I bought from Vroom, and had it shipped from Texas to CT. The car was exactly as stated, immaculate condition in and out with 24,000 miles. Everything went smooth as silk until it came to title and Registration. I had to battle them for 6 months. to get my papers, which was a stressful process. On the bright side, after a year, the car has been flawless.

I am a carvana believer. I bought my 2019 SS Camaro through them and it all went well. Dealerships don’t give you 7 days to “think” about it. I liked the warranty 100 days I think plus the manufacturer warranty. I had it bought all electronically and delivered to a post office near me. A verifiable address they said. After biting my fingernails watching the little girl let it off the flat bed I got to take it for a few test drives. After being comfortable with the look and feel I signed the rest of the paperwork and got the keys. Wowee, I saved a bunch not going through a dealer and anything I needed Carvana took care of; I found it was missing the emergency tire inflator kit. I think pricing isn't a bad point, they were funded by investors. So they aren't requiring a big profit for each sale. Haven't heard many complaints on car quality. Getting the title is something to research, some states have banned carvanna or vroom because of this.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to chime in. I searched Carfax, Carvana, and the rest for months looking for the right car.

When I spotted my latest acquisition at Carvana, I looked through all the pics and zeroed in on the radio. The station showing was KZEL - a rock station in the area I moved from in Oregon. A wild coincidence!

So, armed with that information, I started looking through the inventory at the dealer websites in the area until I found the car that was on Carvana. Sneaky, I am like that.

I called the dealership and they were all too happy to deal with me direct as then they didn't have to give Carvana their cut and they shared with me some of their savings.

I bought my daughter a plane ticket and she flew to Oregon, spent time with old friends and family for a few days, then drove my new Camaro back for me. (About 900 miles - what a kid!)

I was looking at Carvana a while back, maybe 3 months ago. I decided to open my search and found my '11 2SS convertible w/ 5k miles up in Cleveland for a lot less than Carvana was advertising. The car had been for sale for a while and with cold weather coming up they were pricing it just right and became too tempting to let go. Did the deal via phone/mail and then on a Saturday I woke up at 3:30AM, flew up, drove back 750 miles and was in bed at 10:30PM. Thank you Southwest miles!!

Now I bought an '11 Corvette GS w/ only 5k miles from Carvana in 2019 and got a great deal. They seemed to have their manual transmissions set at a lower price point and I was really happy with the way the whole transaction went - it was in better shape then what they showed on line. Got my title in a few weeks and everything worked out great. (Keeping the Corvette - thought it needed a new sister so bought the Camaro! I had sold my '10 2LT 7 years ago.)

That said, Carvana's finances do not look good right now. They'll probably be in chapter 11 within the next 3 to 6 months unless they get some refi done. Between that & their reputation for holding paperwork way too long has started to hurt them badly. I really recommended them after buying the Corvette but can't do that now.

Having bought 2 cars from caravan and just buying my 2010 synergy green machine i have been very happy with everything. The warranty has been amazing fixed some body issues and did the thermostat housing as well and i have no complaints car has been awesome I'm very happy with everything and would buy another carvana car again in a heartbeat!
