V6 vs... OTHER V6's

How bout I start this debate.. Instead of all the Vs vs V8 debates where there is absolutely NO POINT in the discussion and no comparison whatsoever

How about the Camaro V6 vs say .. Hyundai.. or Ford or Mazda..

That would be a debate actually worth everyone's time and def NOT like comparing Apples to Oranges.

The mustang is nice and light and similar power and all, but not up the par in the styling department imho. I don't street race or drag race my car, so don't really care about the power diiference all that much. That being said, I do find it comical that our V6's have a little more power than the pre-2009 Mustang GT's.

Before I bought my Camaro I drove the Mustang. If the rest of the car was as nice as the V6 I might have bought one. It is a bit faster than the Camaro and I liked the "MADE IN CHINA" transmission better.

I also drove a 350Z. That was the best balanced car, and fast. It just felt a bit cramped to me.

I also drove a Hyundai Genesis with a turbo 4, and it suffered from turbo lag but overall was a good car. Not as fast as the others for sure.

True about the styling. I was refering to performance. And yes, the C5 V6 has way more power than my 01 Mustang GT. But...the GT would easily out-handle it, not to mention break the rears loose with no effort. But, the tranny went south. Funny, I had 4 Mustangs since '99, and three of them had bad trannys. Two 5-speeds and one auto. And I was easy on them

I never drove one of those. How long did the turbo last? Every turbo I have seen dies relatively quickly, and costs a fortune to replace. I am a flight instructor, and even the turbos I fly, far better made than the car turbos, just don't last. Constant failures and mainetenance problems.

The factory turbo lasted aprox 125,000 miles. I sold the car about 2 years ago and the new owner sends me pics to tease me about what i could have had if i kept the car ....when i sold it, it had aprox 450HP at crank but that wasnt enough for him so he decided to just about double that

There is no comparison. I don't care how fast or what brand - The end.

Factory turbo engine on my RX7 lasted 120k miles before I had to do an engine rebuild. Then again, comparing rotary to piston is apples and oranges.

Back on topic, I really like the way the 370z and Hyundai Genesis v6 drive, but for the price, the Camaro gives great performance. I didn't really like my test drive with the mustang too much.

I have my Camaro, and I have a STS Caddy with the same motor, I also have a Nissian Maxima with a V6, its my wifes work car, and seeing as how its a lot ligter, that thing SCOOTS pretty good......I believe that there will always be a segment of the auto world that will have powerful V8's or bigger even in the U.S. its part of our culture.....BUT, at the same time.....over time, there will be fewer and fewer of them......thus I am very glad that I live in this era. As there will come a time when we show some of our kids, or grand kids pictures of our past cars and they just can't believe what the average man had access to.
