Refined my 3D printed steering wheel centre even further. All the factory buttons work as standard. Horn is on the small round button bottom right.

My next move with this is to work out how to add buttons for the PTM settings to the wheel so everything is nicely to hand during track driving.

Nice!! Looks amazing.

Is it set up as a quick release wheel? If so, how did you do it? Kit etc?

It's not, but I could easily do as there's a 40mm spacer that I could replace with a quick release boss.

If I did a quick release boss I would have to have either a quick release electrical connector for the wiring, or alternatively I have seen extendable 'stretchy'/coiled wiring (for want of a better term) that allows you to remove the wheel but not from the car.

The main reason I didn't though is because in my experience, no matter how much you spend on a high-end quick release boss, the splines always have more freeplay in them than the OEM factory splines, and I hate freeplay in a steering wheel. The way I've done it: I took a spare OE steering wheel, took the magnesium casting out of the centre with the factory splines. Put it in the lathe and turned it down until it matched the diameter of the spacer, and then re-drilled it to match the 6 x 70mm PCD of the carbon wheel.

When I put the PTM buttons in I don't want to lose the PTM buttons off the centre console, I want to add duplicates. But I'm still trying to work out how best to achieve that... I'll figure it out!

Amazing car for sure Pat. All the hard work pays off...

Love the steering wheel! Love to do that to mine...

Hey Pat!

Here you go. This is what I've used and is what is recommended. No additive necessary.

ACDelco 10-4016 75W-90 Synthetic Axle Gear Oil - 32 oz

Also, I highly recommend buying bulk and being on top of your oil as you track it going forward. Even after 2 events, I get quite a bit of sparkly bits in my gear oil as it drains. GM recommends after every event, or after every 6 hours if tracking it continuously in one day. It's not THAT expensive, and super easy to do with a screw-on pump. I've swapped mine 4 times now since Oct of 2017.

I kinda like the new look myself. It does though tend to draw your imagination away from it being a camaro to it being something else. Not in a bad way though.. Sure would've been nice if all that was open grill area for more air flow thru our engine bay. it gets too hot under there. Anyway, i like it , my opinion.

If you track regulary - there is no cheaper motor insurance that changing your oil after every event. As you said it is not that expensive and it protects your investement (in fun).

Thanks for the thoughts on both oil and graphics!

Remember my car's only on 5400 miles from new, it's had oil / filter changes at 500, 1050, 3600 and now 5500 miles

I don't buy into needing to change the rear diff oil every event. That's potentially every 250 miles, and that would smack of GM having under-engineered the part. Other than the occasional creak or moaning noise there are no horror stories with diff durability on this forum on cars with 10 times the mileage mine has! I mainly wanted to clarify regarding the additive for the oil.

I'm also on brake fluid flush number 3, tend to fully refresh it at the start of every season. I've bought a special tool that monitors brake fluid condition, I'll post a picture/review of it next time. For brake fluid I always use Motul RBF 660, and have been doing on my track cars for over 10 years.

I'm still on the original brake pads, but the fronts will need replacement probably later this year.

I'm on tyre set number 4 in 5000 miles, but not an accurate reflection as I got a puncture so prematurely changed the front axle. Also I've wanted to try different brands/sizes of tyres so not really been running them down as close to the canvas as I could probably get away with.

I've flushed & replaced engine coolant once at 3600 miles.

Had a new clutch friction plate and pressure plate at 1100 miles but as described earlier in this thread that turned out to be down to misadjustment from new, so I have the originals in good condition as spares.

I changed brake lines for braided steel for improvement in pedal feel and whilst swapping them I actually found a nick in one of the rubber hoses, so I would recommend all owners check these regularly. I think it probably got cut by a sharp rock flung up by our sticky tyres in the wheel well.

My only other consumable has been a front windshield change at around 2500miles due to stonechip on track. Inevitable but only cost me £75 as insured.

On reflection the car has been extremely reliable and much cheaper to run at 650bhp than the Porsche or Nissan R35GTR alternatives (or anything more exotic!). I'm really looking forward to getting back out this season and hopefully going in search of some trophies!
