2011 SS Startup Getting Worse and Worse

I have about 81k miles on my 2011 SS.

Lately when I turn it over it doesn't turn right over anymore. It will go through several cycles. It also intermittently knocks and rattles like the tailpipes are loose but they're not. When it idles it ALWAYS sounded like it was ready to stall but from the inside, it sounds and felt normal.

Everything became just about perfect when I had new plugs and wires done about 2k miles ago. It was just about perfect after that for a few months then lately it's getting worse again. I have a K&N filter and Flowmasters but that's the only mods. This car never idled right but the knock, rattles, and long to start are new. BTW, I'm getting 14mpg, down from 18mpg when I first bought it at 20k miles.

If you're still on the original battery, then I suggest changing it.

^^^^ tes, if you have an old battery I have seen where when the car doesn't have enough voltage to run all the systems it can cause the car to run weird, mine did when the first battery was going dead, the alt is not enough to run everything the ECM has to do.

Battery.....maybe check plugs and wires.....if you oiled the K&N filter lately, maybe oil got on the MAF. Start with the simple things.
Good luck

Mine idled rough and missed. Change battery, all good. Always troubleshoot the simplest thing first.

On the reference to the knocks and rattles, check the heat shields up in the trans tunnel, I have had mine come loose before and it would rattle crazy.

The battery is eight months old from AAA. The dealer was told several times about the weird sounds and found nothing. There is also a sound that "very intermittently" comes out of the front that sounds like something hitting the fan but the sound isn't dependant on the rpm.. It's loud and makes other drivers look. Upon inspection there's nothing. But this was also fixed when I got new plugs and wires. Would getting that sport programming help? My warranty is expired and I always wanted to do that, or does that just control the shift points?

have you checked your main chassis ground in your trunk right where the negative terminal grounds to the chassis? i've seen posts where people had to sand down some corrosion and re-mount the bolt to the chassis. might as well give that a go while you're troubleshooting

Got a new battery and so far the pipe rattles and slow start are fixed. I still heard an intermittent grinding noise that lasts a few seconds, coming from towards the front. Like something is scraping the fan but it's not that far forward. Sounds like almost under the passenger side front fender.
