Those, I hate.
My other half will not drive in the roundabouts. We have overpasses that have 4 of those things strung together.

I hate those with a passion as well despite growing up with them, go figure Heck, in my head I can even recall my driving instructor back in the day explaining me how I must downshift to second prior to entering, then shift to third while turning to exit and picking up some speed in that woefully weak small sedan, grrr, stressful memories... you're saying it may be related to why I ain't a fan, eh?

I seem to recall encountering a 'roundabout' for the first time when I was in Syracuse New York back in the mid-seventies and it was 3-4 lanes wide. somehow, I'd get trapped in the inside lane while needing to find a way across all three lanes to get to the exit across from where I entered, all during rush hour traffic.

The only worse traffic I've seen was in Bangkok a few years later.

LOL had a "car guy friend" who wanted to drive my DD Genesis. Took it around the block. We have a local road with a few small (<80' dia) roundabouts. So he does exactly this and drives straight across the center of the thing. Fortunately the car had 18" rims and some 103Y pilot super sports that absorbed the 2" curb without incident. YAY RACE CAR TIRES!

Yes, 'carrier circle' seems to sound right.

We're getting the ultimate traffic circle about 2 miles north of me. It's where I-40, 540, and US 70 (soon to be I-42) come together about 8 miles south of Raleigh. This is called a turbine interchange and is basically an at speed traffic circle that encompasses 500 acres. It's going to awesome sitting out on my deck hearing the booms from those crashes!

WOW 500 acres.

One [HELL} of a circle. When I lived in Tenn. I had a part time girl friend that had a toilet seat familer to that size.

I was waiting for this.

Traffic circles are the brain child of academics who never spent a day in the real world.
In theory they are ideal, in practice they are vehicular game of chicken with untrained buffoons armed with 2 ton weapons.
