After reading Cheap Guy’s post I walked out onto my front porch and snapped the photo below. The car under the cover is a pristine black Pontiac Firebird Formula WS6. Not unusual to see it under a cover in late December. But what if I told you that the cover has not been lifted in about 3-4 years? And what about the fact that there is a perfectly usable two car garage on the other side of it that is home to boxes, furniture, and garden tools? I’ve asked my neighbor about it and she simply will not sell it. But she won’t drive it either.

My neighbor to my immediate right (RIP) had an orange ‘74 Datsun 260 Z in his garage that he was “gonna fix up” one day. I offered many times to buy it. I eventually stopped asking. Then one day a couple years ago I’m in my yard and a Silverado backs up to his garage, attaches a chain to the Z and starts pulling it out. I’m like “Mike! WTF are you doing? I said let me know if you ever wanted to sell it!”. He explained that his godson taught car repair at a high school in Flint so he was donating the car so they would have something to work on.

And to top it off, there was a neighbor down the street that had a bronze Porsche 944 that just sat in front of his house. Under layers of dirt, tires about 60% deflated. He was at least willing to sell it. But at a stupid price. Sat there for about 4 years before he finally sold it.
