I'm not sure we ever "landed the plan" on this discussion. What I believe is that your two targets - quiet and reliable - are opposed. A 4.10 is a "finer" gear mesh, whereas the 4.11 is more coarse. I would expect the 4.10 to be quieter, but weaker, and the 4.11 to be louder, but stronger. I don't know that in practice there is a tremendous difference in strength, and relative noisiness comes down to the type of bushings in the rear of the car along with the quality of the setup on the gears.
