Stripe removal
I bought a 2010 ss and I am thinking of removing the rally stripes. I am pretty sure that there will be color fade from the stripes but does anyone know if I would be able to polish that out. Thanks

I took mine off after about a year and a half with no problems. There wasn't any fading of the paint but you could see the outline of where the stripes use to be. Take some fine machine polish and you will never know they were there. Worst case scenario if your paint is faded, put new stripes on.

If it's been there long enough, the color can fade to a point that polishing won't take it out yes.

My stripes were on for 2 years and when I removed mine 2 weeks ago, there was no color fade. Just an outline of the stripes which polished out pretty easily

I have white stripes so I don't know if that will make a difference. But I guess worst case is I put new stripes on.

Thread revival like a boss.
Well I took the leap of faith and removed my stripes and here is what I learned: 1. You need a very good adhesive remover. 2. This is not a 45 min project. 3. Polishing by hand sucks...bad. 4. Don't let your kids near your detailers clay, if you want to keep it. All in all I am very glad I did it, there was not sun fade or "bikini" lines. It looks a lot better to me. There are still very light lines from the stripes but not bad after 4 years of wear in the AZ sun. With some machine polishing they will surely come out. I kind of plan on making going with the 1LE look so I was not too worried about messing it up, but now that it worked great I'm gonna just rock it like this for a while. Before: After:

Looks great Mike. I was thinking of doing the same to mine so I could install a ZL1 hood vent but was concerned about the "bikini lines". I know how hot that Arizona sun can get, so if yours didn't have lines after 4 yrs, I know mine will be okay after only 1-1/2 years.
